January 25 is going to be a sad day for fans of Ubisoft's games, as 10 titles are having their servers shut down on that day. It's always sad whenever a video game company confirms server shutdowns for its games. EA keeps a running list of upcoming shutdowns, and Ubisoft has also given fans some advanced notice about games that it will be shutting down in the near future.

An unfortunate reality of online gaming is that the servers for these games are eventually shut down. Sometimes this isn't that big of a deal, but other times it makes entire game modes completely inaccessible and effectively lost forever. This is devastating for those that care about video game preservation, but there's nothing to be done about it, unfortunately. Hardware evolves, new games come out, and there are only so many gamers to play so many online multiplayer games at any given time.

Ubisoft Game Delisted After 9 Years, Will Soon Become Unplayable

Gaming giant Ubisoft delists one of its games from digital storefronts nine years after it was originally released.

With that in mind, Ubisoft fans may want to prioritize checking out the online functionality of 10 of the company's games that are being shut down on January 25. Specific platforms vary, but Assassin's Creed 2, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Assassin's Creed Liberation HD, Assassin's Creed Revelations, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Heroes of Might and Magic 6, NCIS, RUSE, Splinter Cell Conviction, and Trials Evolution are all having their online services shut down on January 25.

Ubisoft Game Server Shutdowns January 25 List

AC Ezio Assassin's Creed 2
  • Assassin's Creed 2 - Xbox 360
  • Assassin's Creed Brotherhood - MAC
  • Assassin's Creed Liberation HD - PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
  • Assassin's Creed Revelations - PC
  • Ghost Recon Future Soldier - PC
  • Heroes of Might and Magic 6 - PC
  • NCIS - PC
  • R.U.S.E - PC
  • Splinter Cell: Conviction - Xbox 360
  • Trials Evolution - PC

For some of these Ubisoft games, the online features were not a core part of the experience anyway, as is the case with the single-player game Assassin's Creed 2 on Xbox 360. In other cases, the server shutdowns will be more harmful, like with Ghost Recon Future Soldier, for instance. Ghost Recon Future Soldier has various online multiplayer modes that will cease to exist once the servers are switched off come January 25.

Something else Ubisoft fans will want to keep in mind is that these shutdowns will also mean the end of linking Ubisoft accounts to these games and claiming Ubisoft Connect rewards. Anyone interested in Ubisoft Connect rewards or any of the online features tied to these games should be sure to play them between now and January 25.
