After the first Ubisoft Forward digital event offered fans an in-depth look at upcoming games such as Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Far Cry 6, Watch Dogs Legion, and Hyper Scape, the company announced that a second Ubisoft Forward event would be held in September. With the first Ubisoft Forward focusing on the publisher's tentpole franchises, the next event is likely to focus on its remaining lineup of announced games for the current fiscal year, and hopefully, a few surprises like the announcement of Hyper Scape. Keeping in mind at least two of these games will be released before the end of March 2021, here's a look at all of the games fans can expect to see in the next Ubisoft Forward event later this year.
Gods & Monsters
One game that's likely to be shown during the next Ubisoft Forward event is Gods & Monsters, although fans can expect to see the upcoming Ubi game with a brand new name this time around. Described as "an open-world action-adventure game full of epic battles and quests," Gods & Monsters is an open-world fantasy game that's based in Greek mythology. The game takes place in the fictional Isle of the Blessed and players will need to wield the power of the Gods to face off against mythological beasts such as Gorgons, Hydras, and Cyclops, and worst of all, Typhon, the father of all monsters. Coming from the developer of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Gods & Monsters is scheduled to be released during the current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2021.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine
It's been quite a while since Ubisoft talked about Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine, another AAA game that's due to release before the end of the current fiscal year. Announced during Ubisoft' E3 2019 conference, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine is a first-person squad-based tactical shooter in development at Ubisoft Montreal. The game was inspired by the Outbreak event from Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, a limited-time co-op event that saw teams of up to four players face off against hordes of infected enemies while trying to complete a series of missions. While very little has actually been revealed about the games since its announcement, it's possible Ubisoft could re-reveal Rainbow Six Quarantine under a new name as well given the current state of the world and the fact that one of the difficulty levels in Outbreak was called Pandemic.
Beyond Good and Evil 2
In a surprise announcement over the weekend, it was announced that Netflix would be producing a "hybrid live-action/animated feature" film based on the world of Beyond Good and Evil. While that announcement has very little to do with Beyond Good and Evil 2, it does help put some minds at ease that the games long-development cycle doesn't necessarily spell trouble. Announced in 2017, Beyond Good and Evil 2 is a prequel to the popular PlayStation 2 game and takes place "about a generation before Jade was born," the main protagonist in the first game. At this stage, it's likely that Ubisoft would be looking to give some sort of update on the development of Beyond Good and Evil 2; however, Gods & Monsters and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine are far more likely to take precedence given their imminent release window.
Something New?
Ubisoft currently has a large number of games already announced, so it's highly possible that for the time being, it may want to stick to games that have already been revealed. At least for the current fiscal year and the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, excluding any of the games that were mentioned in this article and games previewed during the first Ubisoft Forward event, the only remaining announced game from Ubisoft is Skull & Bones, and it's unlikely to be shown after a rumor suggests Skull & Bones is being rebooted entirely. If that's the case, Ubisoft could be looking to tease a brand new next-generation project that's early in development as a way to fill out the show, such as a new game in the Splinter Cell series or a brand new IP.
Earlier in the year, Ubisoft announced that it would release five AAA video games during the current fiscal year, which have now been confirmed to be Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Watch Dogs Legion, Far Cry 6, Gods & Monsters, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine. With Hyper Scape and Roller Champions also due to release in 2020 and existing games like Just Dance 2020, The Division 2, and Ghost Recon Breakpoint receiving continued support, that leaves Beyond Good and Evil 2 and Skull & Bones as the only AAA games on the publisher's plate going into 2021 and beyond. If the upcoming event is going to be Ubisoft's final one for the year before the holiday season takes over, it's safe to say fans could be up for a pretty big show or a pretty small one. In other words, temper expectations.
The second Ubisoft Forward is scheduled to take place in September.
