Ubisoft is one of the most successful video game companies in the world and has worked on many popular franchises. In the last few years, Ubisoft released games such as Watch Dogs: Legion, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, and Immortals Fenyx Rising, all of which were received well by fans. Now that 2023 is almost at an end, players know exactly what the publisher will be releasing by the end of the year. Which Ubisoft games are coming out in 2023?

Update October 8, 2023 by Mark Sammut: The biggest Ubisoft 2023 games are either coming out now or are set to launch in two months. Overall, Ubisoft has had a somewhat slow year, which is largely due to the company leaving its major releases for the last quarter.

Developed by Game Swing, Oddballers is a dodgeball game that replaces the ball with a wide spectrum of unusual items. Supporting single-player and, unsurprisingly, multiplayer, Oddballers offers dozens upon dozens of arenas and plenty of minigames that shake up the formula.

Although not the biggest 2023 title associated with Ubisoft, Oddballers can be a fun game to dish out during parties.

Every Ubisoft Game Coming to Mobile Platforms

Ubisoft has always had a presence in the mobile gaming market, and next year it's set to bring a number of franchises over to the platform.

Valiant Hearts: Coming Home was released exclusively on Android and iOS devices through Netflix's mobile app, and Ubisoft has provided no indication that console ports could be on the horizon. The publisher has agreed to release three mobile games via Netflix.

Ubisoft Blue Byte
Genre(s)
Strategy

A real-time strategy game that has been in development for a number of years, The Settlers: New Allies was initially set to launch on March 17, 2022; however, the game was postponed. Tracing back to 1993, The Settlers was a fixture of the '90s and 2000s, but a new entry in the series has not been released for over a decade. Despite this modern reboot being a long time coming, the game failed to live up to the license's legacy.

New Allies, like the previous entries in the franchise, is intended to be baby's first RTS, which used to make sense due to the genre's general inaccessibility. However, this issue has steadily become less prominent as most developers have sought to ease newcomers into their complex systems, resulting in experiences that can hook and keep players. The Settlers: New Allies achieves accessibility by just being simple and easy, which means it will struggle to hold the interest of anyone besides the most inexperienced of players.

Released in 2020 on PC, Trackmania made the jump to consoles in 2023. Although not devoid of conventional races, Trackmania primarily challenges players to compete against their own times. Racers will repeat tracks again and again as they try to deliver the perfect performance, which is easier said than done. With a solid selection of courses, both official and custom, Trackmania can keep someone busy for a long while, particularly if they are interested in cracking the global leaderboards.

September 14, 2023

Genre(s)
Racing , Open-World

For a while, it seemed like Ubisoft was ready to let The Crew fade into oblivion as another open-world franchise that was not quite successful enough to warrant keeping around; however, that timeline has been diverted through the release of The Crew Motorfest. Although still keeping most of the core fundamentals that defined the previous entries in the series, the multiplayer racing game is set to shake things up by swapping the mainland United States for O'ahu, a Hawaiian island. The Crew Motorfest features a smaller scale map than its immediate predecessor, which allows for more diverse and consistent environments.

Garnering a decent enough reception, The Crew Motorfest is a solid open-world racer reminiscent of Forza Horizon. While not quite matching the quality of Playground's beloved franchise, Ubisoft's project looks good and is fun to play.

Released
October 12, 2023

Genre(s)
Action-Adventure

In recent years, Assassin's Creed has moved away from its origins by focusing more on direct combat and doubling down on RPG elements. This shift has been a success for the most part, but a yearning for the old ways has steadily intensified among the fanbase. Assassin's Creed Mirage tries to satisfy this desire by stripping back contemporary developments in favor of a more stripped-down, classic package.

Opting for a considerably smaller map than the ones found in Odyssey or Valhalla, Mirage is set in Baghdad and emphasizes mechanics like parkour and stealth. The game's launch reception has been generally positive.

Released
December 7, 2023
Developer(s)
Massive Entertainment
Genre(s)
Action-Adventure

Announced in 2017, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora has been in development for quite a while, which is just keeping in the spirit of James Cameron's franchise. Developed by Massive Entertainment, the company behind The Division entries and the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws, Frontiers of Pandora is an open-world project that casts players as a Na'vi raised by the RDA. Eventually, the protagonist escapes and joins their people, although they are still an outcast.

Presented from a first-person angle, the game appears to prioritize exploration to an extent, although combat will also be a major part of the campaign. Players and fans of the movies will get to experience Pandora like never before, all the while building a character that suits their play style.

Platform(s)
PC , PS5 , Xbox Series X , Xbox Series S
Released
May 21, 2024
Developer(s)
Ubisoft San Francisco
Genre(s)
FPS

The world really does not need any more multiplayer first-person shooters, so the fact XDefiant's closed beta managed to turn heads speaks to its potential. Bringing together five franchises, the game allows players to pick from factions inspired by the likes of Far Cry and Splinter Cell, and they get to select a class and then customize their loadout. At launch, the title should offer a respectable range of content, both in terms of selectable items like weapons and maps. Ubisoft has announced XDefiant's year 1 roadmap, so the publisher clearly plans to hit the ground running.

XDefiant's Cleaners are damage dealers that specialize in area denial using their incendiary rounds and napalm-spreading abilities.

XDefiant will be free-to-play, which has almost become standard for this sort of release. Even though there are plenty of FPS games on the market, a polished project that harbors back to old-school arena shooters could be a breath of fresh air when compared to the myriad of battle royales and hero shooters that have dominated the scene in recent years.

Mighty Quest For Epic Loot 2

mighty quest for epic loot
  • Platforms: Android, iOS

Mighty Quest for Epic Loot is one of the more obscure Ubisoft properties as the 2019 game came out only on mobile devices. Similar to Valiant Hearts: Coming Home, Mighty Quest 2 will be available to Netflix subscribers who have an Android or iOS device capable of running the hack and slash RPG.

While far from a masterpiece, the original Mighty Quest is a decent enough title by most metrics. It has basic but sound combat and constantly showers players with loot. The sequel should offer more of the same, although Ubisoft has revealed very little about the project so far.

Developer(s)

Genre(s)

In May 2021, Ubisoft confirmed that a free-to-play The Division 2 spin-off called Heartland is in the works. For the next year, the publisher remained tight-lipped about the game, but things have now changed.

September 2022's Ubisoft Forward event dived into Heartland, revealing the project to be a free-to-play game set within a small town. The multiplayer shooter comes with PvE and PvEvP content, six playable agents, and three classes. While a date has yet to be announced, the full release could happen in 2023, although there is no guarantee.
