Players can throw several events in Two Point Campus. Events are important for several reasons. They offer Entertainment, which is important to keep students happy. Happy students are more likely to stick with their studies without dropping out, and they're more likely to succeed in their classes. They may also give certain buffs, like increased Happiness, Movement Speed, and Learning Rate.
If players have a Lecture Hall, they can throw film events for students using the Lectern. Film events in Two Point Campus last for 15 days, so they're a pretty short activity to give students a Happiness boost. They vary a little in both pricing and rewards, and it's a good idea to have film nights on rotation throughout the academic year.
Funny Film

The Funny Film gives a decent boost in Happiness and provides entertainment. It's one of the first film events players unlock in the game, and it's one of the cheaper options to keep students happy (which is important: managing finances correctly is a big part of succeeding in Two Point Campus).
The film itself is a silly slapstick comedy, and students will come away slightly happier, so it's a decent event to run when lecture theatres aren't being used for teaching purposes. This, and the Romantic Film, is a cheap alternative to Student Union parties, and with a length of 15 days, it doesn't take up too much studying time.
Romantic Film

The Romantic Film offers a good boost in Happiness and keeps students entertained between classes. The story seems to be a conversation between a man and a woman as they eat dinner. What happens between them is a complete mystery as players don't get to hear the storyline, but it seems to keep students happy enough. (Players can always speed up time if they want to skip through it.)
The Romantic Film is identical to the Funny Film in terms of buffs, so players can alternate if they feel like it. Students won't get bored if they see the same movie twice, so it doesn't seem to make a difference.
Horror Film

The Horror Film offers a fun escape for overworked students, and it's a good one to stick on if students are starting to feel tired. Like the Comedy Film and Romantic Film, it gives a 20% boost in Happiness, but it also provides Energy. Energy is important, and students will need it to complete their studies. They usually recover energy by going to bed, but the Horror Film can provide this instead.
It's also pretty fun to watch students as they enjoy a frightening movie about zombies.
Western Film

The Western Film is identical to the Horror Film when it comes to bonuses: students get a 20% boost in Happiness and a decent boost in Energy. It's a good event to throw when students are starting to feel fed up with juggling their studies, socializing, and reaching their personal goals. Energy is required to deal with long lectures and writing assignments.
It's a generic cowboy film, and students seem to enjoy it judging by their applause at the end!
Action Film

The Action Film is slightly different from cheaper films, in that it not only boosts Happiness but also adds a buff of +10% Movement Speed. Those are decent bonuses, so it's worth spending a little more to enable students to move more quickly between classes. Movement Speed is important, as students who can squeeze in more activities are more likely to get good grades (and therefore, more likely to graduate). This, combined with the Walking Club, can make a real difference to students as they move through the campus.
It's also fun to watch, a strangely mesmerizing 15-day scene of a man in sunglasses riding a motorbike.
Sci-Fi Film

The Sci-Fi Film has some of the most useful buffs players can get from film events. It gives students the standard +20% Happiness buff, as well as a +10% boost to their Learning Rate. Learning Rate is important for obvious reasons: students wanting to do well will need to have a decent Learning Rate in order to pass their classes. Learning Rate can fluctuate and is impacted by their moods, so this double boost is worth investing money in.
It's the most expensive film event, but it's a good idea to play this film if students need a boost in their studies. It features, unsurprisingly, little green aliens.
