Naruto is one of the most beloved animes to ever exist. With various manga, anime, movies, and novels, Naruto is a worldwide sensation. The end of October marked the release of two new additions to the Naruto franchise.
On 21 and 22 October, VIZ Media and MANGA Plus published two spin-off manga in English about Sasuke and Konoha, titled Naruto: Sasuke's Story—The Uchiha and the Heavenly Stardust: The Manga and Naruto: Konoha's Story—The Steam Ninja Scrolls: The Manga.
Sasuke Uchiha is Naruto's best friend and deuteragonist of the anime. He is simultaneously Naruto's teammate and rival. Sasuke understands Naruto's loneliness of isolation, because his whole Uchiha clan was killed by his own brother. Initiallly, Sasuke wanted revenge on his brother for killing their family. This slowly faded away as the story continued, however it resurfaced and consumed him entirely. The new Sasuke is now power-hungry and selfish, leaving his friends behind for more villainous intentions.
Konohagakure, otherwise known as Konoha or the Hidden Leaf Village, is Naruto's home. It is here where Naruto was born, and Kurama attacked. Not only is it the place where he was outcasted, but also where he seeks redemption.
Naruto: Sasuke's Story—The Uchiha and the Heavenly Stardust: The Manga tells the story of Sasuke's journey to an astronomical observatory, that is far away from the Land of Fire. He joins forces with Sakura here, where together they investigate for traces of the Sage of Six Paths, which leads to its own ominous consequences. This 2019 spin-off is based on another spin-off in novel form: Naruto: Sasuke's Story--The Uchiha and the Heavenly Stardust by Jun Esaka. The new manga spin-off is illustrated by Shingo Kimura.
Just like Sasuke's manga spin-off, Naruto: Konoha's Story—The Steam Ninja Scrolls: The Manga is based on the 2016 novel of the same name, by Shō Hinata. The bonds between Kakashi and Guy are illustrated in this story, as the duo travel to the hot springs in the Land of Hot Water with their bodyguard Sarutobi Mirai. Natsuo Sai is drawing this manga.
