Most people’s idea of a good morning probably doesn’t include having the police barge into their room in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, that’s what happened to one Twitch streamer after police entered her home following a recent swatting incident.Twitch streamer Clara “Keffals” Sorrenti woke up on August 5 to find officers pointing a rifle at her while she was in bed at her home in London, Canada. She was unharmed and later released a tweet telling fans she was safe. However, the 28-year-old claims that the incident “completely destroyed” her and her fiance’s lives and accuses the police of “terrorizing” her.RELATED: Adin Ross Swatted During Twitch LivestreamKeffals described the situation in a YouTube video on August 9, revealing that someone pretending to be her sent threatening emails to every member of the London city council. The impersonator claimed the streamer was in possession of an illegal firearm and that she’d already used it to kill her mother. The fraudulent emails also claimed that Keffals, who is a trans woman and vocal trans activist, intended to carry out a mass shooting targeted at cisgender people.[EMBED_YT]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzOwDuazF2w[/EMBED_YT]Police arrived at her home around 6 AM on August 5, where they took the streamer into custody. Law enforcement searched her house for firearms, ammunition, and related items but found nothing. They also seized her and her fiance’s computers and phones, which forensic computer experts are reportedly examining. This includes the computer she used for streaming, and Keffals claims that she spent thousands of dollars replacing the lost equipment. She’s also still unable to access some of her online accounts.

According to Keffals, who saw the emails during her interrogation, the messages were “littered with grammatical errors and red more like something a troll would say.” Additionally, while the emails identified her by her legal name of “Clara Sorrenti,” they also disclosed the “dead name” she used before transitioning. Keffals describes this as “an obvious attempt to make the police humiliate me.”

Keffals also notes she was booked under that name and said she overheard police referring to her as her mother’s “son.” Keffals, who changed her name in 2012 and ran in two parliamentary elections as Clara Sorrenti, does not believe the police could have reasonably believed her legal name was anything else. Instead, she sees it as a clear sign of prejudice within the London police department. She also noted that the London police were much more aggressive than those in Toronto, who investigated the streamer’s previous swatting incident.

Many Twitch and YouTube streamers have been swatted in recent incidents. However, given the specific nature of the false allegations, it’s hard not to wonder if Keffals’ recent swatting is politically motivated. The streamer announced that she would be moving for her safety. Fans who wish to help her with moving costs and legal fees can donate via her GoFundMe.
