  • JiDion's Twitch account has been restored following his hate raid on Pokimane, ending a 832-day ban from the platform.
  • This comes after JiDion made several attempts to appeal the ban and restore his public image over the last two years.
  • Twitch CEO Dan Clancy recently admitted the need for clearer ban system feedback in response to controversial suspensions.

Two years later, JiDion's Twitch account has been restored after leading a hate raid against Pokimane. On January 12, 2022, users on Twitch were led from JiDion’s stream to bombard Pokimane’s chat with spam. Pokimane had to resort to ending her stream after her chat went completely out of her control. Pokimane and JiDion have since cleared things up between each other, yet JiDion's reputation with Twitch was unaffected.

JiDion was dealt an indefinite suspension from Twitch following the hate raid on Pokimane. He had appealed his ban multiple times, but all of them were denied. JiDion reached out to Pokimane sometime after the incident, and they patched things up with each other. They even collaborated in person, but JiDion still remained banned. In a desperate attempt to clear his image, JiDion called out Twitch in 2023 for rejecting his appeal, claiming that he would use his platform to “Spread the message of Jesus Christ.” He has continued to make content on YouTube since his ban, with a recent video coming out after a two-month hiatus that has amassed almost half a million views in two weeks.

JiDion's Twitch Account Restored After 832 Days

After a year of nothing happening in regard to his ban, JiDion submitted one last appeal on April 26, 2024. JiDion tweeted, “It’s been 832 days… Pleassse I wanna watch Kai’s Ghost of Tsushima PLAY THROUGH,” with a screenshot of his appeal. Ten days later, on May 6, 2024, JiDion’s Twitch account was restored. After several appeals were denied, one of which took over a year for Twitch to respond, JiDion tweeted, “It happened,” as reports of his unban made waves around the internet.

Unbans on Twitch like JiDion’s are uncommon, as indefinite suspensions that last this long usually aren’t overturned. He has made several efforts to heal his public image, one of which was apologizing for selling out with sponsorships in an emotional video.

As of this time of writing, JiDion hasn’t said when his long-awaited return stream will happen. His return would certainly mark a historic moment for Twitch, with the stream expected to become one of the biggest and most viewed moments on the platform since Kai Cenat broke Twitch's viewership record.

In related news, the CEO of Twitch, Dan Clancy, has admitted that Twitch needs better feedback for its ban system. In an Ask Me Anything stream last month, the CEO mentioned that when streamers face bans, there is often unclear language on Twitch’s part. Perhaps this will lead to a more consistent banning system with clearer reasons as to why ban decisions are made.
