The dinosaur hunting series Turok continues its comeback with Turok 2: Seeds of Evil arriving on the Nintendo Switch soon. The game and its predecessor are considered classics of the 64-bit generation and fans are surely wanting to give the series another go with these remasters to see how they hold up. With the first game already out, all that's left is its sequel, which is set to release on the Switch next week.

According to the Nintendo UK website, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil will be available to download on August 8, 2019, from the Nintendo eShop. The site also lists the sequel at the same price as the first game at $20. Being a remaster, it will look much sharper than it did back in 1998 and will require 596.64 MB of free space. If you're a collector, there will be a limited run of physical copies of both games available in the third quarter of 2019.

For those completely in the dark on these games, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is based on a comic book series of the same name. The first game had players take on the role of Tal'Set, who has the title of "Turok," while the sequel stars Joshua Fireseed. It is set in a primitive world filled with dinosaurs and other bizarre creatures; there will be 35 different types of enemies to take on.

The games are known for their vast collection of strange and powerful weapons, with everything from the gruesome Cerebral Bore to the classic bow & arrow. In fact, Turok made our list of the best uses of the bow and arrow in video games, joining well-known protagonists like Lara Croft and Ellie from The Last of Us. The sequel ups the arsenal choices with over 20 weapons to collect. Players also have the option to mount artillery cannons on the back of a Styracosaurus to mow down enemies.

Anyone without a Switch who is still interested in these games, the Turok series is also on Xbox One and Steam. The major benefit of owning the remaster on PC is the ability to access a level editor, allowing players to create and customize maps, making full stages with the Turok FX Engine.

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil is available now on Xbox One and Steam, with the Switch version releasing on August 8, 2019.
