The first Nintendo Direct of 2022 has just concluded, and the gaming community is likely very excited about the many announcements made during the livestream event. Alongside sharing details about new headliner titles like Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and more, updates on upcoming video games were also given out by the Nintendo team. One of those featured in the Nintendo Direct livestream was the final trailer for Triangle Strategy, which also stated that a new demo will be available, wherein players can transfer their save data onto the full game upon launch.
Triangle Strategy was announced almost exactly a year ago, during the February 2021 Nintendo Direct. Developed by Artdink, the team behind turn-based RPG Octopath Traveler, and published by both Square Enix and Nintendo, the upcoming RPG will have tactics-based gameplay combined with pixel visuals. With only a few weeks left until its release date this March 2022, the team has gradually been releasing story and character videos to help build up the gaming community's excitement.
Aside from sharing the final trailer of Triangle Strategy, the February 2022 Nintendo Direct also announced that a new demo is now available on the Nintendo eShop for those interested to try the tactics-based RPG out. According to the official Nintendo Twitter account, the demo will feature three chapters of Triangle Strategy, which may give players enough content to get hooked on the game. What's more, those who played the demo will be able to transfer their save data from the demo onto the full game once it has been released.
The final trailer reiterated that player choices will play a big role in Triangle Strategy. Aside from choosing between the sides of liberty, morality, and utility, picking allies will also factor into the game's outcome. However, no details on how exactly things will change have been shared by the developers. Though a previous demo was released, the developers may have already implemented a lot of improvements based on user feedback. Players will likely have to explore the new demo and play the entire game to know the full breadth of Triangle Strategy's choice-based story-telling and gameplay.
With Octopath Traveler having a niched yet loyal following, Triangle Strategy may already have a number of early adopters anticipating its release. However, having a demo to showcase its features is definitely a great way for gamers to find out whether they will purchase the game or not. Hopefully Triangle Strategy does not disappoint, and follow the successful footsteps of its spiritual predecessor.
