There’s been a great deal of Transformers over the years, and the cinematic universe is only set to get larger, and more beastly with the arrival of Transformers’ newest entry, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. This Transformers film will feature fan-favorite characters in a live-action adaption of what can only be assumed to be Beast Wars, a popular computer-generated cartoon after the events of G1.

With the inclusion of Beast Wars, many fans of the Transformers films may wonder what the 7th film will entail, and who exactly are the Predacons. These characters have sinister ties to the Decepticons, so audiences will need to make no mistake, and realize that the Predacons are certainly bad news, if not interesting.

6 Dinobot

One of the Beast Wars characters that received a great deal of popularity was Dinobot. Dinobot was a Predacon that sought honor above the love for hunting that others had. His life was dictated by a sense to die in battle, one that he brought with him every time he aided Megatron and the other Predacons. However, unlike others, Dinobot saw the terror in the Predacons and rebelled against Megatron and his peers to defect to the Maximal team.

Although Dinobot was on Maximal’s team, he still harbored an uneasy alliance, but it did help him to develop a strong sense of friendship with the team, even after many doubts about his loyalty. Dinobot is a greatly skilled warrior and a Maximal that audiences would want on their team against the dreaded Predacons.

5 Descendants Of Decepticons

Considering that the Beast Wars continuity takes place centuries after the climax of the original Transformers cartoon, it’s no surprise that the Autobots and Decepticons would have evolved throughout the years. Their combination of organic life and metallic ones would lead them to slowly change into the superior models of Predacons.

As descendants of Decepticons, it’s not surprising that they have the personality that one might expect from the villainous group. They rely on their brute strength and lust for power, as well as their primal drive and hatred for Maximals and Autobots alike. The only rightful place they see in the universe is at the top of the food chain, with most members not caring for honor, and willingly cheating and fighting their way to the top.

4 Predaking

If there is anything scarier than a giant robot from an alien planet, hellbent on destruction and conquest, then look no further than five gigantic robots meshed into one. Predaking is the name of the Predacon that can be created when the five Predacon members fuse, creating a ferocious titan that can destroy anything in its path.

Predaking is a rare achievement amongst the Predacons, as the hybrid and combination of the Predacons make for a true warrior. Most that try to combine like Predaking lack intellect and control, as it’s a merging of minds, but the five members of the Predacons can do it seamlessly thanks to their mutual love of hunting, which forges a single persona. Their physical powers integrate into Predaking and make for a truly diabolical weapon.

3 Existed In G1

G1 is the terminology used to describe Generation 1 of the Transformers timeline. It is the most famous of the Transformers timelines, as it features the introduction to characters that have existed in pop culture for decades, like Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Megatron. Although most information regarding Predacons and Maximals exists in Beast Wars, the Predacons originated in the G1 cartoon continuity.

The Predacons were introduced as allies to the Decepticons and saw their first conflict with the Autobots when they arrived on Io, Jupiter’s moon. They soon saw themselves serving the rebuilt Megatron called Galvatron, and assisted their new overlord in many of his evil and oppressive schemes, causing great turmoil for any planet unfortunate enough to know the names of the Predacons and Decepticons.

2 Led By Razorclaw

Razorclaw vaguely resembles a golden hybrid of Megatron. He’s an incredibly cold, calculating, and patient machine, who believes in the prospect of good things coming to those who wait. Or, in Razorclaw’s case, “succumbing.” Razorclaw is a great threat in his transformation, as he can become a golden lion, and thus those that call him lazy for his patience will become his prey, as Razorclaw loves a decent hunt.

If Razorclaw is not in his lion mode, then he can use his weapon, the Sonic sword to destroy his opponents. It cuts through armor like butter and makes him a dangerous threat. However, Razorclaw is not like other Predacons, as he has a strange sense of honor, and prefers a battle with dignity and pride for his ego and warrior practice.

1 Helped Steal The Golden Disk

A greatly important artifact of the Beast Wars era is that of the Golden Disk. This disk was later revealed to be a piece from the Voyager probe, which played a reoccurring role in the growing conflict between the Maximals and Predacons. The importance of the Golden Disk cannot be understated, as it allows for information about Earth, as well as the ability of transwarp technology, allowing users to transport themselves back to the past.

Traveling to the past was a much-desired mission for Megatron, as he hoped that with the Golden Disk in his possession, he would be able to travel back to the past to kill Optimus Prime and the Autobots while they reside unaware on the Ark. This would, in turn, change the events of the Great War, and lead to the victory of the evil Decepticons.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is scheduled to release in theatres in 2023.
