Films that revolutionized the genre of scares and continue to inspire anyone who likes to spook audiences until this day. The game is a collaboration between John Carpenter and Saber Interactive. Saber is also well-established within the horror genre for developing popular titles like World War Z and Evil Dead: The Game. Combining the two seems like a match made in heaven.

The game seems fairly reminiscent of other titles where players shoot through hordes of undead and various enemy types like in the Left 4 Dead series. This could potentially be the game many fans have been seeking after Back 4 Blood was widely considered disappointing. Toxic Commando's trailer shows off a variety of weapons mowing through all different types of zombies while Bon Jovi raucously plays over top.

John Carpenter's exact role in the making of Toxic Commando is unclear as of right now. Neither the Summer Games Fest presentation nor any proceeding posts from Saber go more in-depth on the background of the upcoming horror shooter. Carpenter is well known as someone who directs, writes, and even composes scores for his own films, like the iconic Halloween score that still strikes fear in those who hear it today. If he's responsible for any of the writing or music on Toxic Commando, then this is definitely a title horror fans will have on their lists.

Toxic Commando is coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2024.
