The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features a wide array of locations for players to explore as they quest across Hyrule, including countless Sky Islands and floating structures, along with vast caverns beneath the surface of the Kingdom. Getting up to those Sky Islands can be rather tricky, though fortunately players have a number of powerful tools at their disposal to assist with this.

Following the appearance of the sky islands over Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, large rocks and chunks of those islands have begun to fall towards Hyrule periodically. These falling rocks are marked by a green trail that makes them easy to spot as they fall, and can also be found lying on the ground in various places around the game.

What to Do With Falling Rocks

Zelda ToTK_Falling Rock_Rewind

Players will likely spot plenty of falling rocks as they explore Hyrule, and they actually serve a very important purpose to players who know the trick to them. Players are given the Rewind Power towards the end of the game's tutorial, which allows them to reverse the movement of an object. This is used during the tutorial to gain access to the inner section of the Temple of Time and can also be used to reverse enemy projectiles to great effect.

Another use for the Rewind Power relates to the falling rocks, as players can climb onto one and use Rewind to carry themselves skyward along with it. This can be used in some cases to reach the island the rock fell from in the first place, providing players with an easy method of reaching those islands. Some of these rocks will not return to an island when the player rides them into the air, but these are still very handy for gaining a ton of height to make better use of the paraglider.

With good use of Rewind and the Paraglider, falling rocks can be turned into yet another method of traversing the land of Hyrule quickly and effectively, while also avoiding most enemies on the ground. This can be especially useful when scaling cliffs and mountains, which can often take a long time to climb normally, or when trying to access otherwise unreachable Sky Islands. This is one of many ways that players can creatively use Link's new abilities to navigate the game world, and shows the versatility of this new skillset.
