The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is filled with sidequests for players to take on, and several of them involve the people of Hyrule attempting to understand the ancient Zonai Technology that has begun falling from the sky islands above. This includes the researchers in Tarrey Town, who are looking into Zonai vehicle construction.

Link can visit the Tarrey Town Researchers in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to help them work out some steering problems with their prototype vehicle. After doing so, Link can return later to find them working on a racecourse to gather additional data on vehicle construction and the Steering Stick.

The Tarrey Town Race Is On Guide

Players wanting to take on the Tarrey Town Race will first need to complete the quest "Master the Vehicle Prototype" by providing the research team with a Steering Stick and driving around the test course. Once this is done, the Tarrey Town Race quest will be available the next time Link visits the research team. They can be found at the same location as before, shown on the map above.

After speaking with the researcher, players will be tasked with assembling a vehicle to take on the new course. There's an abundance of vehicle parts nearby, so players should put together something they can drive reliably on land and through shallow water. A simple trike made using three wheels attached to a Steering Stick will likely be more than enough to take this challenge on, or a compact four-wheel vehicle.

Once players are ready and have attached the Steering Stick provided to their vehicle, they will be able to start the race by speaking to the researcher again. Players can take any route they wish around the course, but they must pass through each of the light beacons and return to the start within two minutes if they want to clear the quest. Fortunately, this time limit is very generous, and the course can be completed fairly easily.

Once the course is finished within the time limit, Link will be rewarded with some Zonai Charges, and the quest is considered completed. This isn't strictly the end of Link's racing career, as players can now take on the Expert Course to earn additional rewards and test out new vehicle designs.
