Of all the weapons that Link will find during The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, there are a select few that hold a special significance. Aside from the Master Sword, which will always hold an iconic place in the Zelda franchise, Link can also help forge four legendary weapons, one for each region of Hyrule. While these weapons are only marginally more useful than any of the standard weapons Link can find in Tears of the Kingdom, they have an undeniable nostalgia factor that makes them highly desirable.

"Soul of the Gorons" is a side-quest that is built around one of the four legendary weapons that return from Breath of the Wild. Like the missions surrounding each of these iconic weapons, this quest exists for the sole purpose of crafting the Boulder Breaker, which was carried by the Goron champion in days past. This guide will help the player locate all the required materials to complete this task.

Remember, before Link can start "Soul of the Gorons," he'll first need to deal with the Marble Rock Roast crisis in " Yunobo of Goron City ." Once that is finished, the side-quests in Goron City will become available.

When Goron City has been released from the hold of the Marble Rock Roast, Link can begin "Soul of the Gorons" by approaching Rohan and Fugo at their forge (1685, 2494, 0396). This structure is found at the north end of the city, just west of the Marakuguc Shrine. The forge has a large stone pillar out front with a symbol that looks like a Bullseye painted on, making it very hard to miss.

Cross the bridge to the forge and speak to Fugo, Rohan's apprentice. The resulting conversation will initiate the quest, as well as provide Link with the list of materials he will need to forge the Boulder Breaker:

  • Diamonds x3
  • Flint x5
  • Cobble Crusher

How to Find Diamonds:

Diamonds are one of the rarest materials in TotK, making them extremely difficult to find in the wild without putting in a fair amount of time. Given that Link is in Goron City, his first choice may be to simply purchase the diamonds. Link can buy them from Gonguron's stall, which is found in the center of town, right next to where the massive pile of Marble Rock Roast had been. Link will need 3,000 rupees to purchase all three available diamonds.

If Link would like to find the diamonds in the wild, he has two options: first, he can take his chances looking for Rare Ore Deposits. If he has the corresponding section completed in the compendium, he can use TotK's Sensor Plus upgrade to easily find them. Another option is to hunt down any and all Talus variations, as they reward Link with various gems upon defeat.

How to Find Flint Pieces:

Flint is one of the most common items found when destroying the Ore Deposits found around Hyrule. These deposits can be found in the caves and wells of every region and are also found in great abundance in Eldin.

Link can once again use the Sensor Plus upgrade to find Ore Deposits, though Flint is so common that it is doubtful Link will have to look for long.

How to Find a Cobble Crusher:

There are multiple surface locations that Link can find a chest containing a Cobble Crusher. One of the easiest can be found north of the Lake Darman area, slightly northwest of the Lizard Lakes. See the map below for the exact location. Link can also find Cobble Crushers in the Eldin region, as it is sometimes used by the enemies who frequent the area.

This specific chest is found on a ledge at the bottom of a cliff. Head over the cliff to find a rock pile at the very bottom, pressed up against the cliff itself. The chest always contains a Cobble Crusher.

How to Complete Soul of the Gorons in TotK

When Link has all the required materials, he will need to return to Fugo and Rohan to complete the forging process. Speak to Fugo, then select "I'll give you the materials!" He will forge a brand-new Boulder Breaker, and Rohan will be so impressed he allows Fugo to take over the forge.

If the Boulder Breaker ever breaks, Fugo will be able to create another using the exact same materials. With the legendary weapon complete, "Soul of the Gorons" will come to a close.
