When players first start in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, they only have the clothes on their backs and a broken Master Sword. Weapons and armor are essential to survive in Hyrule with monsters and more roaming about, but getting robust equipment costs Rupees.

Rupees are the in-game currency in the Zelda franchise. They resemble crystals, and different colors represent different values. If players want to start on a solid foot in Tears of the Kingdom, they should plan to farm Rupees early. This guide covers how to quickly and easily get Rupees in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

How to Farm Rupees Early

Rupees can be spent at shops or merchants throughout Hyrule to get special armor, arrows, and foods that come in handy while on the go. Stronger items can cost hundreds of Rupees, so farming them and saving up is wise.

Sell Items to Merchants

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Players can start by selling any vegetables, fruits, and meat they collect while running around. These items aren't that valuable, but players can sell large amounts without worry due to their abundance. Monster parts from slain foes can also be sold, but meat from wolves, moose, and bears are worth more.

However, other valuables require a little more work but have a higher payoff. For example, gems are some of the most valuable natural resources players can find. Gems are in rock deposits on mountains and in caves. Players must destroy the deposits by hitting them till they bust to gather gems. Other things that can be sold include armor, dragon parts, and cooked meals.

Shoot Blupees

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Blupees are blue, glowing creatures resembling rabbits with antlers in Tears of the Kingdom that appear randomly in most areas. Whenever they are wounded, they drop Rupees. Blupees are very agile and elusive when startled, so be stealthy if one appears.

After hitting it or being seen, the Blupee will run away and disappear relatively quickly. Players can use a bow and arrow in the air to slow down time and land multiple hits consecutively to collect more money.

Fix President Hudson Signs

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

All around Hyrule, players will run into a man named Addison holding up a sign for a man named President Hudson. He is determined to ensure the sign stays up to support the president, but Link can tell him to let go of the sign. If it falls, Addison picks it back up and resumes his position.

Players can help fix the sign to earn Rupees. The best way to fix it is to use the environment, such as a log, boulders, or other materials to prop up the sign. Large items can be moved using the Ultrahand ability. Once the sign has something to lean on, tell Addison to let it go, and if it stays up, he will repair it and reward players with Rupees almost every time.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
