Total War Saga: Troy, the latest entry in the long-running series of grand strategy games, will release as an Epic Games Store exclusive at first. However, players who pick up the game within the first 24 hours can get this full-sized game for the unbeatable price of free.

Marking the 14th main entry into the Total War series, Troy goes for a more focused view on one of the more famous Bronze-Age wars. Siding with either Troy or Mycenaean Greece, players will once again be able to lead armies to victory in both a grand strategy campaign and real-time tactical battles players have come to love. Even better, those who pick this game up within the first 24 hours of its launch on the Epic Games Store can get it for free.

Tim Heaton, Chief Studios Officer at Sega Europe Ltd, remarked that the company is very excited about providing this offer thanks to Epic. What he found most exciting about the offer was giving new players the chance to obtain and try one of their games for free. "Not only does this mean that we can bring the tales and legends of Troy to a wide audience through Epic's massive platform, but it also means new players will get to try Total War for the first time, experiencing the unique gameplay that the series is famous for." Players on Steam have also gotten the opportunity to try the series when they gave Total War: Shogun away for free a few months ago.

While Total War may have gone full-on fantasy in the past with their two Warhammer games, Troy will be stripping down the myths behind one of Ancient Greece's most famous myths. As some suspected when the game was announced, Troy grounds various famous Greek myths in reality to create a realistic parallel to the mythical war. While you can still play as famous commanders such as Trojan prince Hector or swift-footed Achilles, famous mythological creatures can join your army as actual people. Minotaurs, for instance, are simply burly guys with axes and a bull's head helmet, while centaurs are regular human light cavalry that can be recruited from a province where the mythical centaurs are said to dwell.

Total War Saga: Troy will release on the Epic Games Store on August 13th. It will become available on Steam and other digital storefronts one year later.
