Torchlight: Infinite is a game that belongs to the Torchlight franchise. This game is an RPG, in which players will take control of their chosen character and brawl their way past fierce enemies.
There are, of course, going to be people who are able to immediately take to the game and all of its intricacies - the game's learning curve will not be too much to deal with. However, there will also be people who may not be able to take to it as quickly as others, and thus may need to learn about some common mistakes that newer players make.
6 Forgetting that Enemies Randomly Drop Items
While going through Torchlight: Infinite, a player will soon figure out that enemies will randomly drop items upon being killed. It is not a guaranteed thing to happen, of course, but it is worth it for a player to know this, as it is very common to forget (especially early on).
A player who is later in the game will probably not be able to equip a lot of gear that enemies drop, as it will be too weak for a player to properly use. However, it is still worth it to gather up all of the items a player can - if nothing else, they can sell any useless gear.
5 Not Using Hero Traits
Hero traits are going to be really important for a player to learn about when they get started playing through Torchlight: Infinite. This is mainly because they determine what kind of play style a player will be going for during their gameplay. Not building off of them will harm a player's gameplay in the long run.
In short, hero traits are used to determine the quirks that the character a player chooses (such as a trait that increases damage, for example) - each player character gets a hero trait to start off with at the beginning of the game. More can be gained by playing through the game, gaining achievements, and so on.
4 Being Afraid to Try Different Heroes
There are quite a few heroes that a player could choose to play as throughout their gameplay. The range of characters goes from the long-range mage (that being Frostfire Gemma) or the typical Damage Per Second tank character (who, in this game, is Berserker Rehan); as such, it may look daunting at first to try out these heroes.
It would definitely benefit a player to try out as many of these heroes as they can. As the game goes on, more heroes will be added, as well - there is a character for almost every play style that a player could go through, so with enough experimentation, they are sure to find what fits them, so not trying them out will harm a player in the long run.
3 Staying Still Means Dying
Combat is the name of the game when it comes to Torchlight: Infinite. As such, a lot of players have figured out the best way to complete battles in the early game without dying - namely, a player should not stay in one place, or else it may spell the end for them.
As long as a player keeps on moving while fighting for their life, they have a really good chance of being able to survive the battle they are currently thrown into. By making sure that a player's character is constantly moving, they will ensure that they are not in one spot to get picked off by the enemy while still dealing damage against them - this is a technique known as kiting, and it is very effective.
2 Not Planning Out the Skill Tree
A player will get a long line of skills that they can upgrade over time in their gameplay, in order to make their characters stronger. Similar to hero traits, these skills are essential to building up a player's character and making them incredibly strong in battle, so it would be a bad idea to ignore the skill tree or build it at a whim.
Skills are, in a nutshell, the attacks that a player's hero can use when in battle - it is going to be really useful for a player to learn more about each skill set that a character would benefit the most with. One thing for a new player to remember, though, is that in the beginning, it would be best to have at least one offensive and one defensive ability equipped, so a player can fight and keep themselves alive.
1 Not Selecting from Multiple Talents
When it comes to customization, Torchlight: Infinite sports a great many ways for a player to tweak and fine-tune their character until it plays exactly the way they want it to. There is no better way to highlight this than with the talents that a player can pick and choose from with their character, and it really shows.
Essentially, the talents that a player can get are used for refining the kind of build that a player is going to use. These talents, such as the God of Might or the Goddess of Hunting, determine what kind of stat buffs and bonuses a player will get during gameplay, and a player can select up to three talent panels for their character - they are really something a player should pay attention to.
