Torchlight: Infinite has everything that games like Diablo have, and that is creating a unique and exciting experience for everyone in the party. This makes gameplay a lot more immersive and fuller. Much like great the RPGs out there, Torchlight Infinite has a ton of working parts, which includes giving each player that wants to specialize in something to build up to that. In turn, they engage with how this game plays longer. When including how Torchlight: Infinite plays, plus how it makes gameplay different based on the character players pick, it makes sense adding as one the best free RPGs players can get on Steam.

One of the biggest components that matter in gameplay no matter what class they pick is the builds, they can do a bunch of things for players. Depending on the player's build, these characters will perform differently than others who have picked the same character. This gives a sense of uniqueness, which also feels a lot more rewarding. There are many things that make the build what they are, and how they impact gameplay. Gear or armor is just as crucial as weapons because enemies can attack in different ways. So depending on the gear players will have different experiences. These are the best pieces of armor players can get at the moment.

5 Vestment Of Song

This a chest piece players should try out because the Vestment Of Song highlights a great aspect of Torchlight: Infinite, and that is players can be dynamic and change their builds all without having to refine everything. Just like in other action RPGs like Mass Effect where players can be more fluid with their builds, Torchlight: Infinite does this right and this chest piece allows players to do just that. Mainly, it works best with any build since most of its attributes are based on having the player fight in a more aggressive manner.

The reason being is that it increases the maximum life and mana of the character by 60 points, plus, another 60 points for the player's energy shield. This all becomes important in the late game, and if players don't invest in those aspects early on, things can get harder. It also allows players to take more elemental damage, which hurts more if they didn't have the chest piece. It's just a good dynamic piece of armor for players to have and as mentioned before, it works with most builds. The versatility of the armor is a reason why Torchlight: Infinite is one of the best mobile RPGs of 2022 because players don't have to fight one way.

4 Sky Devourer

The Sky Devourer is a good all-around chest piece and goes well with most classes in Torchlight: Infinite. One thing the game does differently from most other RPGs is that the classes don't really matter, but the builds do. So if players have a ranged character, they can make that class damage resistant, and now they're a threat. The main thing about Sky Devourer is that it's designed for players to withstand a large amount of damage and increase most of their attacks to a noticeable range.

Much like the many strength-based chest pieces, Sky Devourer increases the player's health between 80 and 100 points, so in the end game when they have other pieces with the same attributes, players won't go down that easily. Also, if they have any AoE attacks with elemental damage, this chest piece increases that by at least 40 percent. This may not seem like a lot, but when it stacks, players can create breathing room for themselves and their team. This will go a long way since most of Torchlight: Infinite's combat is about overwhelming players.

3 Lone Walker's Boots

Being able to withstand a very strong attack is one thing, and when players can do that, they can play better. However, they don't have to take those hits, in fact, dodging and getting out of the way is one of the better ways to play Torchlight: Infinite, because it helps players stay alive longer. The Lone Walker's Boots do that, but also increase the speed at which players are playing. They can attack more, land more critical hits, and fight in a more efficient way.

However, that's not the main aspect of these boots, while speed plays a massive role in their stats, it's the speed of their movement that's more important than the speed of attacks. The Lone Walker's Boots increase the speed of the player by 20 percent, which is needed for times like the end game where enemy attacks are more damaging. These boots also help players survive when alone, meaning when there are no teammates nearby, the player's speed increases by 40 percent on top of the 20 percent, when this happens they can quickly down enemies and run back to their team.

2 Nether Skull

Torchlight: Infinites' magic-based meta is very important, so unlike other RPGs with a magic system, players will have to create builds that incorporate it in one way or another. The important aspect of this helmet is that it increases the player's attacks by 30 or 40 points, plus, increases the chance of hitting a critical attack by around 150 percent. When mixing those two things together, players can fight knowing their damage output goes beyond what the enemy can counter with. This way, they can get through the hordes of enemies with ease.

On top of that, both the magic and the elemental system are rather overpowered, which is great since a lot of amazing RPGs have this mechanic. It allows players to fight without much worry, and create build around more than one aspect. The Nether Skull helps players absorb more of these types of attacks. In the endgame, these magic and elemental-based attacks become an issue, so if they do something to negate at least half of that attack, players can survive for a long time.

1 Demonslayer Heart

These gloves share a lot of the attributes of the other pieces of armor featured in this list. Increases health by many points, and gives elemental resistance. However, the one thing that stands out, is the melee damage. If players have any melee builds, and a character that's based around those types of attacks, these gloves will make those attacks stronger by at least 32 percent. Not just in the offensive category, but the Demonslayer Heart is able to help players take on more damage since it increases the overall armor rating by 2500 points.

If they have high-end gear, or gear that is compatible with these stats, players become unstoppable, and the end game may even be manageable. On top of that, if players do a solo run, this can help them struggle less because as mentioned before, their overall armor will be able to take more. It's also a very dynamic set of gloves as well because it can negate elemental attacks with around 10 to 20 percent resistance.
