Aspyr has rolled out Patch 3 for Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered after addressing some issues communicated in consumer feedback. Last month, Aspyr released Patch 2, which made several texture and graphical updates to the HD version. In the process, the posters seen in Sleeping With The Fishes (The Lost Artifact) were inadvertently removed. Patch 3 for Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered has restored the missing posters and also implemented some additional fixes across all three of the game's titles. Some updates are title-specific, whereas others are applied across all three games, including an outfit selector allowing players to customize Lara Croft's cosmetics at any time.

The original trilogy kicked off in 1996 with Lara Croft's debut in Tomb Raider by British developer Core Design. Due to the game's resounding success, several sequels were released, beginning with Tomb Raider 2 in 1997 and Tomb Raider 3 in 1998. The franchise follows Lara Croft, an archaeologist who ventures into ancient tombs and hazardous structures all around the world to uncover mystical artifacts and preserve ancient civilizations. Developer Crystal Dynamics is preparing to bring Lara Croft back for another adventure, separate to the remasters, so the stakes are high for Tomb Raider's future.

Amazing Tomb Raider Mods That Make The Games Even Better

The Tomb Raider series features a ton of diverse entries, and these mods improve the base game experience through visuals and mechanics.

Aspyr has unveiled the official notes for Patch 3, which introduces the outfit selector, applies improvements to Lara Croft's character model and SFX across all three games, fixes control errors, and adds quick save/reload hotkeys for controller players, among other things. Perhaps the biggest change is the return of Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered's missing posters, which fans have been campaigning for since Patch 2's blunder. The patch also fixes texture anomalies, adds details to specific levels, and heightens the sound design by adding FX to significant events.

Since the 1990s, Tomb Raider has been adapted into comic books, novels, three live-action feature films, and even an upcoming Amazon Prime Video series. Initial remasters were previously released for the first two Tomb Raider titles on iOS and Android in 2018, but the remastered trilogy, complete with three expansion packs, was developed and published by Aspyr, who had previously collaborated with Crystal Dynamics to port the first six Tomb Raider games to macOS in the 2000s.

Crystal Dynamics confirmed in May 2024 that Tomb Raider 1–3 Remastered would receive a physical release from Limited Run Games, set for release on September 24. This announcement came after the confirmation that The Lara Croft Collection (comprising Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris for the Switch) would be receiving a physical release. Fans are already requesting remasters of Tomb Raider 4 and beyond, while Aspyr has expressed interest in making more Tomb Raider remasters in the future.
