After Andrew Garfield's standout performance in his return as Spider-Man/Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, more and more fans have been clamoring for the actor to get another shot at playing the wall-crawler. So, sure enough, it wasn't going to take long until Tom Holland echoed that same sentiment.

With Spider-Man: No Way Home still fresh on everyone's minds and Holland's next movie, Uncharted, about to be released not too long from now, it was inevitable that Holland would be asked questions about Spider-Man's future. However, that future doesn't necessarily involve himself, as Holland has joined the many fans supporting the idea of Sony reviving the Amazing Spider-Man franchise.

In a recent interview with Phase Zero, Holland was asked if he too wanted to see Garfield return again in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Holland not only vocalized his support for the movie to be greenlit, but also why Garfield's performance in the film resonated with the fans. "I would love to see The Amazing Spider-Man 3," Holland said. "I think what was so wonderful was how Andrew was able to kind of make amends with the character and the studio, you know, to kind of win the general public back... The fan reaction in the theater was so spectacular, so should Sony decide to do that, they would have my full support, and obviously, so would Andrew."

Having Holland's endorsement for The Amazing Spider-Man franchise to resume is nothing for Sony to sneeze at. Whether they decide to go through with resuming the franchise or not, one thing is for sure. Now, the public is fully invested in seeing more of what The Amazing Spider-Man movies have to offer, which definitely wasn't the case back in 2012.

The primary reason why The Amazing Spider-Man franchise failed the way it did was that Spider-Man fans at the time wanted to see their favorite hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe more than anything. It also didn't help that Sony spent a little too much time trying to set up plotlines for future movies in the franchise's second installment instead of focusing on the story at hand. Should the folks at Sony bring the franchise back, they hopefully will prove they've learned from their mistakes and give the fans another excellent Spider-Man portrayal with Garfield at the helm.

In all honesty, what could it hurt? Again, audiences now want to see more of this previously failed franchise back at it again in theaters. No matter what you may think of The Amazing Spider-Man duology, one thing that cannot be denied is that Garfield poured his heart and soul into those movies. Now that Sony would have the audience it originally wanted back in 2012, and with an Oscar-nominated actor who has embraced his role as Spider-Man potentially coming back to star again, Sony has a winning formula at the helm. At the very least, they should give this idea some thought.
