Tom Holland is willing to reprise his role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4, but he has some conditions before agreeing to return to the MCU.

Holland has played Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2016. He made his debut as Spidey in Captain America: Civil War and went on to star in his own Spider-Man film series. He played the titular role in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). He also played the character in two more MCU films, Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Despite the success of his most recent appearance as Peter Parker, Spider-Man 4 has not been confirmed yet. Holland is in no rush and keeps the door open for a potential return if his condition is met.

In an interview with Collider, Holland gave an update about his future in MCU as Spider-Man. The 27-year-old actor revealed that he is "actively engaging in conversations" about the potential look of Spider-Man 4. However, he is more concerned about giving the character justice because he is "very protective" of it. He acknowledged how each movie was better and more successful than the previous one and wished to maintain the momentum to keep the legacy.

I feel very protective over Spider-Man. I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy. So, I won’t make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character.

The Uncharted actor clarified that if they could work on his condition, he would return and put on Spider-Man's spidersuit. He said he owed everything to the titular character. Holland said he loved his role and the people he worked with in the film, so he would reprise his role if they found the right story.

If we can figure that out, I would be a fool not to put the suit back on again because I owe everything to Spider-Man. I love the character and the people I get to work with. So, I would love to tell another story, but I’ll only tell it if we can find the right one.

Holland's statement wasn't surprising. While he might not be the best Spider-Man actor for every MCU fan, he made the character popular with younger fans, so it was understandable that he was protective of his legacy as Peter Parker, a.k.a Spider-Man. Also, following the success of No Way Home, fans have wondered if he will return to play the fan-favorite character again. Holland has been consistent in that he is open to playing Peter again if the script will give justice to the character. In a previous interview, he said he was open to reprising his role so long as the next movie would elevate the story and make the franchise better.

Holland initially signed for a Spider-Man trilogy, so Spider-Man 4 is already an extension of his original contract to portray the superhero. He admitted that he would be lucky if he could return for another film to play the titular character again. However, his fate as Spidey remains unclear, as the actor has a specific condition that needs to be met. It's been two years since Holland graced the big screen as Spider-Man, and without a production schedule in sight, Spider-Man 4 may take longer than fans want.

Spider-Man: No WayHome streams on Hulu.
