The new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer promised an exciting third chapter for Tom Holland as the wall-crawler. However, Holland won't play Spider-Man forever, and it appears the young star wants Miles Morales to get his own film in the future.

Holland was recently one of three rising stars to be awarded the title of GQ's Men Of The Year alongside rapper/musician Lil Nas X and NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Holland, who appeared on the cover of GQ, also recently sat down for an interview with the magazine, where he talked about everything from his career, his personal life, cognitive dreaming, fame and celebrity culture, and the future of Spider-Man.

"Maybe it is time for me to move on," Holland said regarding the character he's played for the past six years. "Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film. I have to take Peter Parker into account as well because he is an important part of my life. If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.” Holland was cast as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man in 2016's Captain America: Civil War at the age of 19. He's portrayed the character in several of the MCU's biggest movies to date, including his own solo films Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home as well as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

While Holland's performance as the young superhero has been met with almost universal acclaim, it's not surprising that he's looking to a future without Spider-Man. In recent years Holland has been branching out and starring in other franchise films, such as the long-awaited Uncharted movie. He might also want to leave Spider-Man on a high note, rather than overstay his welcome. Audiences have seen a lot of Peter Parker on screen over the last two decades. The character has been played by three different actors over three different franchises in the last 20 years. However, Miles Morales has yet to make his live-action debut.

Miles Morales was first introduced in the comics by writer Brian Michael Bendis and in the years since his debut, he has become an immensely popular character, and for some, the definitive Spider-Man. The character has appeared across numerous comic series, as well as video games and the award-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. Even though he has not appeared in live-action, Miles was teased in the MCU. In Holland's first solo film, Spider-Man: Homecoming he meets a character named Aaron Davis played by actor/musician Donald Glover. In the comics and in Into The Spider-Verse, Aaron Davis is the uncle of Miles Morales. In Homecoming Davis is just a low-level criminal, but he does mention that he has a nephew. So while he has not made his live-action debut, it's certainly possible that fans will get to see an MCU version of Miles Morales sometime in the near future.

It's hard to say what's going to happen in what could be Holland's last Spider-Man film, but if it is indeed his last time playing the character, Miles Morales would be the logical choice to replace him in the MCU. We also know from the recent trailer that Holland's Spider-Man will be facing down all of the villains from the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man films. In the interview, Holland once again denies Maguire and Garfield's involvement in the film, but at this point, it would be more surprising if they're not in it. That being said, a movie with so many Spider-Men in it might be the perfect vehicle to introduce Miles Morales to the MCU.

Spider-Man: No Way Home premieres in theatres on December 17th, 2021.
