Not content with starring in 2022’s most successful movie, Tom Cruise is aiming for the repeat next year, and that means doing his best to promote Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, which apparently involves him jumping off a plane on set.Much like Top Gun: Maverick, the seventh Mission: Impossible film suffered a multitude of COVID-related delays, albeit during filming rather than prior to its release, but Cruise’s new video for social media makes it clear he and Paramount Pictures want to channel very similar vibes for the two movies. Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning will reunite Ethan Hunt with his usual gang as Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg Rebecca Ferguson and Vanessa Kirby all return in their respective roles, as well as actor Henry Czerny who was last seen in the first movie playing former IMF director Eugene Kittridge.RELATED: Mission: Impossible Plots Are Secondary To The Action (And That's Okay)Regardless of these two being completely different franchises, Cruise (@TomCruise) wants fans to know he’s deeply thankful that they came out to theaters in waves to support Top Gun: Maverick, fully embracing his movie star status as he descends from the sky to call the ability to entertain crowds “the honor of a lifetime.” The video was shot from the set of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One and Two, in South Africa, with neither Cruise or director Christopher McQuarrie specifying which one will use this scene jumping off what appear to be a helicopter. However, if this is what the marketing looks like Dead Reckoning is bound to feature some of Cruise’s best stunts ever.

Although the film won’t come out until next summer, this isn’t the first time Cruise has defied death as part of Dead Reckoning’s promotional campaign since just over a couple of months ago the actor put out a similar clip casually standing on top of vintage aircraft. Cruise closes off the clip in perfect style wishing audiences happy holidays, before the video cuts to remind everyone that Top Gun: Maverick will finally be heading to Paramount Plus this week.

The Top Gun sequel got a rare rerelease in theaters from December 2 to 15, a move that only highlights the unique box office momentum the film obtained this year, thanks to an extended theatrical run. This early on, it’s clear like Cruise and Paramount want to recreate that for Dead Reckoning, as yet another example of a true blockbuster meant to be enjoyed in a movie theater, and considering Hunt’s performance in his last assignment on Mission Impossible: Fallout, it certainly has the potential to be 2023’s biggest film.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning is scheduled for release on July 14, 2023.
