Highlights

  • Tenjiku, founded by Izana and Kisaki, is a powerful and ruthless organization that aims to take down the Tokyo Manji Gang in a climactic battle for supremacy called the Kanto Incident.
  • Izana's hatred towards his adoptive family and envy of his brother's relationship with Mikey led him to turn to cruelty and delinquency, founding the violent Eight Generation Black Dragons.
  • Kisaki's manipulation and malice brought together the former members of the S-62 Generation to form Tenjiku, an organization built on violence and hatred with the goal of creating a "kingdom" for themselves.

Rooted in a complex rivalry between its founder Izana Kurokawa, and his half-brother Manjiro Sano, Tenjiku was founded by Izana and his associate Kisaki Tetta, as a means to take down the Tokyo Manji Gang. As the largest delinquent group in Japan's Kanagawa Prefecture at the time of its founding, the gang serve as the main antagonists in Tokyo Revengers: Tenjiku Arc, going up against the Tokyo Manji Gang in a climactic battle for supremacy known as the Kanto Incident.

Introduced in the first episode of Season 3, Tenjiku quickly took the fight to Toman on multiple fronts, assaulting many of its high ranking officers — including First Division Captain Takemichi Hanagaki and Second Division Captain Takashi Mitsuya. This prompted an equally intense response from Mikey, who chose to attack Tenjiku on their home turf, kicking off the Kanto Incident in Tokyo Revengers: Tenjiku Arc. Sinister, ruthless, violent, and shrouded in mystery, Tenjiku is an entirely different level above the adversaries who faced off against the Tokyo Manji Gang before, representing a new threat unlike any other.

The Root Of Izana's Hatred

On becoming part of the Sano family alongside his half-sister Emma, Izana Kurokawa grew close with the eldest child in the family Shinichiro Sano, who took him under his wing. However, he had a poor relationship with his adoptive mother Karen Kurokawa, who neither cared for her biological daughter Emma, nor for Izana, who was actually born as a consequence of her ex-husband's affair.

Soon after marrying into the Sano family, Karen gave Izana up for adoption and practically abandoned Emma, leaving her with Mikey's grandfather, Mansaku Sano. Even after leaving the Sano household, Izana maintained a regular correspondence with Shinichiro, who looked out for Izana, but also consistently mentioned his younger brother Manjiro (Mikey). This angered Izana, who envied Shinichiro's relationship with Manjiro.

His jealousy was exacerbated as Shinichiro intended to hand over the Black Dragons — the gang he had founded — to his biological younger brother Manjiro. Feeling alienated and betrayed by those around him, Izana, who was once a kind and benevolent child, turned to a path of cruelty and delinquency, founding a violent organization composed of powerful fighters he met at a juvenile detention center.

Forming The S-62 Generation

This group, known as the S-62 Generation would gain considerable notoriety in the process, as they engaged in unlawful activities such as assault, robbery, and drug trafficking as part of their operations. Each of them would go on to form or take over gangs of their own, to expand their scope of influence and build a network to further their activities.

For instance, Kanji Mochizuki headed a gang known as Jugem, who regularly fought against the Twin Devils Gang led by Souya Kawata and Nahoya Kawata. The Haitani brothers Ran and Rindo would go on to rule the Roppongi district after defeating Max Maniacs. Finally, Izana himself led the Eight Generation Black Dragons, turning them into a more sinister and violent organization. He was later succeeded in this role by Shion Madarame, another member of the S-62 Generation, who headed the Ninth Generation.

This version of the gang would go on to attack Kazutora Hanemiya, in an attempt to continue Izana's will and kill Manjiro Sano, culminating in the founding of the Tokyo Manji Gang, who promptly crushed them. Over time, Izana and his fellow delinquents in the S-62 Generation ceased their criminal activities to some degree, or joined other gangs, as was the case with Yasuhiro Muto, who became the Fifth Division Captain of the Tokyo Manji Gang, until Izana's return.

Kisaki Tetta's hatred towards the Tokyo Manji Gang for kicking him out after the events of the Christmas Showdown Arc, proved to be the trigger that would bring together the former members of the S-62 Generation, who served as the core of Tenjiku. Manipulated by Kisaki's malice, Izana would reunite his old comrades, creating an organization built on a foundation of violence and hatred, in order to build a "kingdom" for himself with the aid of his delinquent associates.

Tenjiku's uniform consists of a long red jacket with their emblem — a yin and yang symbol — emblazoned on its back. Below it is the kanji for Yokohama, while "First Generation" is written above the emblem. Furthermore, Tenjiku's mottos are inscribed on the sleeves and rear flaps of their jackets. The length of the jackets worn by members varies depending on their rank, with upper ranks wearing longer jackets and lower ranks wearing shorter ones.

In terms of structure, Tenjiku's hierarchy had Izana as its Boss — the pillar of its operations — and he was supported by the "Four Heavenly Kings," who consisted of the gang's strongest fighters. These four individuals were Kakucho, Ran Haitani, Kanji Mochizuki, and Shion Madarame. It is likely that they held a level of power that was comparable to the Division Captains of the Tokyo Manji Gang. Below them were the Executives, high-ranking members such as Yasuhiro Muto, Rindo Haitani, Shuji Hanma, and later, Hajime Kokonoi.

Finally, Kisaki Tetta occupied a special position created especially for him — the General Chief of Staff. While his actual position in the hierarchy is difficult to ascertain, he held a great deal of power in the organization and could order practically anyone apart from those ranked at the Executive level or higher to do what he wanted at any time. In this system, Kisaki took advantage of Izana's hatred to further his own vendetta against the Tokyo Manji Gang, resolving to crush them at any cost.
