The official Twitter account for Ken Wakui's Tokyo Revengers manga series announced that the series had surpassed 50 million copies in circulation on Wednesday.

Though impressive, it’s worth noting that these don’t represent the series’ sales numbers. Over 50 million copies of the incredibly popular manga are in circulation both in print and digitally. There were over 40 million copies in circulation as of September 2021.

Wakui’s Tokyo Revengers manga made its debut in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2017. 25 tankōbon volumes have been released so far, with the most recent volume having shipped out on December 17 in Japan. A parody spin-off manga, Tōdai Revengers, is written by Shinpei Funatsu and runs in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket.

A 24-episode anime adaptation from Liden Films aired during the Spring and Summer 2021 seasons. The series was directed by Koichi Hatsumi (Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga, Deadman Wonderland) and penned by Yasuyuki Mutō (Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash, Afro Samurai). Hiroaki Tsutsumi (Dr. Stone, Jujutsu Kaisen) composed the music for the series.

A live-action film adaptation produced by Warner Bros. Japan was released on July 9, 2021. The film was directed by Tsutomu Hanabusa (Grand Blue, Kakegurui The Movie) and written by Izumi Takahashi, with music from Yutaka Yamada.

An announcement was made in late December revealing that the manga’s “Christmas Showdown Arc” will get an anime adaptation. No release date window for the upcoming anime was provided, but a short promo video teasing the upcoming anime was released alongside news of an iOS and Android game revolving around the popular franchise.

Kodansha USA licenses the manga in English digitally, while Seven Seas Entertainment will handle the series’ print distribution with 2-in-1 omnibus paperbacks starting in May 2022. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired and also streams its English dub.
