Titanfall 2 is a competitive game by nature. Being a top player requires accuracy, movement, and anticipation. Because the game is so competitive, choosing the right weapons in a loadout is crucial. Respawn did a decent job balancing the weapons in the game, but there are ten that outperform the rest. Respawn's oversight may be one of the reasons why there has been a healthy player base for half a decade.

Pilot gunfights are a central aspect of Titanfall 2's gameplay, and people will want to be using one of the viable weapons in online matches. This guide will look at all of the important variables when using each of the following loadouts. It will also outline the proper ways to use every gun by detailing the strengths and weaknesses of each. Below are the 10 best weapons in Titanfall 2, organized by class.

CAR

CAR titanfall

The majority of skilled and sweaty players will be using the CAR. It is an SMG, which means people can traverse the map more seamlessly. Damage, fire rate, accuracy, and mag size make the CAR the best SMG in the game. Anyone can pick up the CAR and have success with it. The gun's high fire rate means that it is more forgiving than most while having barely any recoil to control. Movement is a key component of pilot gunfights, and players will move better with an SMG.

Alternator

Alternator Titanfall

It may not be as good as the CAR, but the Alternator is more viable at extended ranges. The Alternator has more recoil than the CAR in general, but it can be tap-fired to take down opponents from across any of the maps.  The weapon's damage values extend quite far for an SMG, giving the gun a niche role in the category. Up close, the Alternator has comparable damage to the best guns in the game.

R-97

R-97 Titanfall

There are not very many bad things to say about the R-97. The weapon has amazing damage, range, and controllable recoil. Gamers can hip fire this weapon from ridiculous distances due to the small spread on the gun. The R-97 will hold its own against both the CAR and Alternator. With a large ammo capacity and fast fire rate, users can kill 2+ enemies with one clip. After a third buff, the R-97 became so powerful that it was banned in online competitive play.

Spitfire

Titanfall 2 Spitfire

While the Spitfire may be one of the weapons that barely made the list, it still performs well in certain situations. The LMG is usable at range, and has really good hip fire traits considering it is an LMG. In public matches, people will have a blast with the Spitfire. It has middle-of-the-pack damage values, a large clip, and accuracy. In ranked play, most people will struggle to compete with the meta builds.

Devotion

Devotion Titanfall

Despite several nerfs, the Devotion is still a borderline viable option in Titanfall 2. The weapon's chamber wind up lowers the time to kill for the gun, even though it does a decent amount of damage once it reaches max RPM.

The LMG fills an interesting role in the game. It is dominant at range, and okay in other scenarios. The Devotion is also an amazing gun when fighting multiple targets outside of cover. With a giant magazine and incredible fire rate, users will have the potential to down two or three enemies without reloading.

R101 Carbine

R201 Titanfall 2

The R101 Carbine is a 10 shot kill at any range, and many in the community wanted it to be nerfed years ago. With aim assist on controller, the Carbine feels like it has no recoil, and will beam enemies from across the map. The weapon has enough ammunition to be viable and is certainly in the top tier of the pilot weapons. The R101's ease of use and competitive time to kill make it a great option in PVP. It is a matter of preference, but some choose the maneuverability of the R201 instead.

R201 Assault Rifle

Versatility is important, and the R201 is a multifaceted assault rifle. The gun has an incredible hip fire spread and competitive damage values. While it may not be as accurate as the Carbine, it can still be used at intermediate ranges. The R201 is a hybrid SMG/Assault rifle that shines in close to medium range. Because of how Titanfall 2 movement works, aggressive players will prefer the R201 over the R101. Unlike the Carbine, the R201 is S tier on both console and PC.

P2016

P2016 Titanfall 2

The P2016 or Hammond is one of the best pistols in the game. The sidearm has a fast fire rate, pinpoint accuracy, and a large magazine. It has a two shot kill potential to the head and can outduel an SMG if a pilot gets lucky. When used to finish off weakened enemies, the P2016 will not let gamers down. To top off the positives of the weapon, it has one of the fastest reload times in Titanfall 2. The pistol has been underused for years and remains a hidden gem in the class.

Mozambique

Mozambique Titanfall 2

Titanfall 2's community loves the Mozambique. The shotgun/pistol hybrid can two shot enemies at close range. It has been a top secondary since the game was released, earning it the nickname "Mozambeast."

As a second option, none of the other pistols in the game are more reliable and consistent within a few meters of an enemy. The Mozambique is an excellent finisher because it will almost always be a one-shot kill against weakened opponents. Meta competitive loadouts will usually feature the trusty Mozambique.

Wingman Elite

Wingman Elite Titanfall 2

Skilled players can pull off incredible plays with the Wingman Elite. The slow firing pistol has a one-shot headshot potential, making it overpowered in the hand of an experienced gamer. When hip-firing the gun, the bullets will align perfectly with the white dot on the screen. People can choose to use the dot sight or just hip fire it from any range. The Wingman is like a pocket sniper. Gamers with precision aim can out-duel opponents with their primaries using the unique pistol.
