While the title often causes people to brand it as a "Soulslike" game, referring to the legendary Dark Souls by FromSoftware, Titan Souls is a very different beast. There are similarities, to be sure, but none of them are enough to truly compare this top-down 2D digital adventure to the 3D action RPG that has become renowned in the gaming industry.
Though, the final boss of Titan Souls follows a similar gimmick to the true final boss of an older FromSoftware title, Demon's Souls, which seems like a nod to the forerunner title that brought about the Dark Souls trilogy.
The Soul, Image of the Titan Soul, while impressive to behold and capable of stunning attacks, is more of a boss designed and implemented for lore-related reasons more than it is meant to challenge the player. With that said, however, there are still things gamers should consider before heading into this final boss fight.
The Attacks Of The Soul, Image of the Titan Soul
Although the combat will be straightforward in this battle, there are still hazards that the player should be wary of when lining up their shot at the spectral foe. The Soul, Image of the Titan Soul, will continuously move around the arena at approximately the same speed as the player while occasionally stopping to attack. Here's what gamers should keep an eye out for during the battle.
Ghostly Arrow
This attack is a linear shot that originates from the boss's small, pale body, very similar to how the player shoots their own arrows. While The Soul is charging up this attack, one will be able to see them standing still with the arrowhead pointing in the direction that they intend to fire. To avoid this attack, keep moving perpendicularly to the line of fire and if the player is far enough away, the shot will miss by a large margin.
Electric Orbs
Every time that The Soul, Image of the Titan Soul, shoots a Ghostly Arrow, they also spawn a few purple spheres that are coated in sparks. These will move about of their own accord, though only in slow, ambling manners, so they should be relatively easy to avoid if the player keeps their distance.
How To Beat The Soul, Image Of The Titan Soul
Unlike other bosses in this game about toppling titans, The Soul, Image of the Titan Soul, is not resilient or in possession of multiple phases. All it takes to defeat them is a single well-placed arrow, which, will soar cleanly through the ethereal white veil of the boss and puncture the body within.
This will cause the former host of The Soul to die instantly, freeing the spirit and bringing the game to an end with a dramatically luminous cutscene that is followed by the title card and then the credits. However, despite being the final boss, there is another secret one that players can find if they defeat all of the Titans that is simply named "Truth".
