Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands introduces a number of memorable characters throughout its story and side quests, ranging from the villainous Dragon Lord to charismatic allies like Wastard. Valentine and Frette make excellent companions for Tina the Bunker Master, while figures like Zygaxis are begging to be expanded upon through some future content. However, one Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands character that many may not think much of is Izzy.

The owner of Izzy’s Fizzies has a unique Minnesota accent that serves as a clever joke, but beyond that, she has no major impact on the events of the game. She shows players around her tavern and introduces mechanics like the quick change station, but she does not provide any major quests or get involved in any significant story moments beyond that. Despite this, there might be more to her than meets the eye, as she has an interesting connection to the Borderlands 3 character Mancubus.

What Borderlands 3 Fans Know About Mancubus

Mancubus was introduced during the memorable Borderlands 3 DLC Guns, Love, and Tentacles. In this expansion, he was the proprietor of the Lodge, and quickly became a fan favorite character due to his creepy vibe and unique mannerisms when speaking. While he does give players some odd tasks, like picking up a cursed cookbook full of dangerous recipes, he seems genuinely kind to everyone who visits the Lodge provided that they follow its rules.

Outside of being a defining aspect of Xylourgos, the icy planet from the Guns, Love, and Tentacles expansion, it is revealed that the Lodge moves around since Maya saw and visited it while she was on Athenas. The purpose of the building remains a mystery, as does Mancubus’ ultimate goal. Regardless, a character that has experience with curses and otherworldly beings being connected to the cheerful Izzy seems a bit odd - but the connection that Gearbox establishes is a fairly obvious one that is difficult to ignore.

Izzy Shares Mancubus’ Last Name

Izzy can be heard pronouncing her full name if players pick up a specific lore scroll in Brighthoof, revealing that her full name is Isabel Bloodtooth. This immediately raised some red flags for fans of the Borderlands franchise, as Bloodtooth just so happens to be Mancubus’ last name. How a fictional character could be connected to a real figure from the Borderlands universe is anyone’s guess, though Bloodtooth is a very specific name - meaning that this is likely a deliberate choice and a hint about a connection of some kind.

Fans have immediately been sharing their theories, and some interesting possibilities have come up. Aside from Izzy potentially being Mancubus’ wife, sister, or another family member, some gamers have suggested that she is actually his Bunkers and Badasses character and that Tina simply borrowed Izzy for her campaign. Much like how Paladin Mike was Lorelai’s creation, Tina may have stolen or borrowed Mancubus’ design, reusing the idea for her own story.

The other popular theory is that the board Tiny Tina is playing on is a cursed item that she traded with Mancubus to get. This would explain how characters like the Dragon Lord started to gain sentience while also justifying the appearance of Mancubus’ last name. Others have suggested that specific pieces like the Fearamid or Dry'l’s model are cursed, though the overall idea behind the theory remains the same. Regardless, this connection is interesting, and it would be interesting to see it touched on if Mancubus shows up in Borderlands 4.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
