Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will release in a little over a month, taking players into a game of Bunkers and Badasses with Tiny Tina as the game master. The Borderlands 2 DLC, Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep, is a high point of the franchise, and Wonderlands is looking to take that further. Not only has Gearbox recently showcased all of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands classes, but it’s recently provided a new look at character creation.

While some may think that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ character creation may be something simple with the choice of classes, this is not the case. It appears to be a very involved process. Demonstrated by IGN First, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ character creation is incredibly detailed.

When players set out to make their Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands character, they’ll essentially be painting a blank miniature, like Dungeons and Dragons, as the “vanilla template” is rather plain. Players will be able to customize these characters in almost any way they desire, with one big benefit is the ability to disengage the symmetry slider—allowing players to really mess with their overall appearance (as seen below).

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands features no locked gender options, no set of voices, or things along that line. Players are encouraged to get as creative with their character as they want to, and none of it is static. Players will be able to unlock new customization options throughout their playthrough and apply them later. Some sample characters, from IGN, can be seen below.

It’s also worth noting that, as Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a first-person game, there is a big question about how important these options are if players cannot see them. Players will be able to see their character models from time to time, but even more specifically, players will see a miniaturized version of their character in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands' overworld, letting players enjoy their character or their monstrosity as a big-head avatar.

Perhaps one of the best parts of Dungeons and Dragons is imagining a character and bringing them to life, and it seems Gearbox is leaning heavily into that aspect in its upcoming game. It’ll be interesting to see how the game performs and is received, ultimately, but as it stands, it sounds like fans should keep an eye out for interesting character creations at and after launch.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands releases March 25, 2022, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
