A new potential leak concerning the highly anticipated upcoming Disney Plus series Star Wars: Ahsoka seems to hint at a plot detail many have been hoping for. Ever since Grand Admiral Thrawn made his first appearance in Timothy Zahn's acclaimed Heir to the Empire book trilogy, fans have long awaited the ruthlessly clever Imperial's entrance into the world of live-action Star Wars, and that wait may almost be over.

The official synopsis for Star Wars: Ahsoka has reportedly been leaked, and it's just boring enough to seem genuine. The inside look comes from regular industry news scooper DanielRPK, who revealed the supposed synopsis as such: "Ahsoka Tano is on the hunt for the evil Grand Admiral Thrawn in the hope it will help her locate the missing Ezra Bridger, the young Jedi that disappeared with Thrawn many years ago." It hits all the marks for what fans might have already been expecting, which lends it an extra bit of plausibility.

The character of Ahsoka will be played again by Rosario Dawson in the series, and she is already well-known in the Star Wars fandom, having been featured prominently in both the Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels TV shows. The timelines for both allowed audiences to follow her development from Anakin Skywalker's young Padawan apprentice to Jedi outcast just trying to find her own path. Ahsoka's appearance in The Mandalorian marked her live-action debut and served as a jumping-off point for her own eventual solo series. She even name-dropped Thrawn himself in that same episode. That's not to mention the character's potential for appearances in other mediums, such as possibly showing up in Jedi: Fallen Order 2 voiced by Ashley Eckstein.

Thrawn Ahsoka Star Wars

Ahsoka's final shot on Star Wars Rebels saw her joined by her friend, the Mandalorian Sabine Wren, as the two set off in search of Ezra Bridger. Bridger, a young Jedi and largely the main character of Rebels, had executed a risky plan in order to save the Rebel Alliance from an assault by Grand Admiral Thrawn, resulting in both Bridger and Thrawn disappearing in an erratic hyperspace jump. Rumors have also suggested that Star Wars: Ahsoka will feature Mena Massoud as Ezra, the actor who is best known for the title role in 2019's live-action Aladdin remake. So that lends even more possible legitimacy to the leak.

After Thrawn appeared in Star Wars Rebels, many began speculating about the character making the jump to live-action, with some fans even presenting the case for bringing Robert Downey Jr. to play Thrawn. Considering how many people seem to have predicted this exact synopsis for Ahsoka, it seems like the series will either end up being exactly what fans expected or completely different in a wild subversion of expectations.

Either way, there's plenty in store for fans of Ahsoka Tano and Star Wars fans in general. Here's hoping the series either meets expectations or massively exceeds them. It would certainly be nice to have another The Last Jedi sort of situation to talk about.

Star Wars: Ahsoka will be available exclusively on Disney Plus.
