With the credits rolling on the latest Thor adventure from Marvel Studios, many fans may be wondering what could be next for the characters involved in the Thor franchise. With Thor: Love and Thunder being the 4th main entry in Thor’s own story, a 5th is to be expected and is desired by most fans of the character.

There is a lot of potential for another story in the legacy of Thor, whether that be from the plethora of content and stories from Marvel Comics, or something entirely original. There are a lot of things that the movie sets up to have great potential for the next Thor adventure.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead

8 Hands-On Role In New Asgard

new asgard location

When Gorr the God Butcher travels to New Asgard, his objective is to kill the gods there. He ends up fleeing but takes the children of Asgard with him. This is to set a trap for Thor, but the God of Thunder also uses this to bond and communicate with the stolen children of Asgard. Creating a bond with these kids opens up New Asgard for a powerful mentor in Thor.

Before the movie ends, viewers see the children back in New Asgard and undertaking self-defense classes. Considering New Asgard is still relatively new, and Thor has a newfound inner peace, it would make sense for him to help out with the rebirth of his father’s kingdom in future movies.

7 Hunted By The Gods

After an epic battle at Omnipotent City, all gods of the universe witnessed Thor try to kill Zeus. The Asgardian team crashed through sacred windows to escape and left nothing but a sour taste in the mouths of other gods. Even Thor mentions that they will probably all be hunted for the rest of their lives by the gods.

It would be interesting to see Thor as a hated member of the god community. This could lead to some great stories and action, with Thor almost like a John Wick-type character being hunted by countless powerful beings that test his might.

6 Thor In The Past

Considering Thor is the Norse God of Thunder and has been around for centuries, there is a lot of potential for a Thor adventure set in the past. Audiences have seen a complete tonal shift in Thor’s identity, from stoic and serious, to clumsy and silly. Going back in time could be a good opportunity to explore a pre-Avengers version of Thor.

This would be great for a serious Thor story, in which he is helping human worshippers to hunt in the harsh regions of the world or protecting Asgard from greater threats. It would be nice to see these characters again and in a tone far different from a comedy.

5 Battle With Hercules

In the mid-credits scene for Thor: Love and Thunder, Zeus tells his son, Hercules, how mankind must be made to fear gods again. Zeus has grown vengeful towards humanity, as they no longer worship the gods, but instead see them as superheroes: a title which Zeus despises.

The mid-credits scene ends with Zeus sending Hercules to find and kill Thor Odinson. Thor and Hercules have clashed a few times in Marvel Comics, and it’s clear that this is a set-up for a Thor 5. Hercules could challenge Thor’s physical strength more than any other villain if given the chance.

4 Time Skip

The last viewers see of Thor is him traveling across the planets to protect and save innocent lives from invading forces. It’s a great conclusion, which has Thor reunited with Mjolnir as he travels world to world, showing how, despite being the God of Thunder, he is also a God of Peace.

A time-skip makes sense, considering Thor is now a dad and is raising Gorr’s daughter, who also has the powers of Eternity. It would be interesting to see how Thor deals with a growing daughter and if their bond is tested.

3 An Avengers Reunion

the original avengers from 2012

With Thor being the enemy of practically all the gods of the universe, it may be time for Thor to call in some help from his old friends. Out of the six original Avengers, only three remain. It would be great to see Thor back in the Avengers team and interacting with new members.

Thor’s chemistry with other characters is always fun to watch. To see the character interacting with the likes of Sam Wilson’s Captain America, or more scenes with Captain Marvel would be a treat. It would make for a great Avengers movie, though a few cameos in Thor’s next solo outing would also be great.

2 A Brotherly Reunion

When Loki was killed at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, many fans were saddened by his death. The role had a great legacy thanks to the talent of Tom Hiddleston. The chemistry of Thor and Loki was part of the best that the MCU had to offer and so hopefully there is more to come.

Thor has a tattoo of his fallen brother. Meanwhile, Loki is alive and well, assisting the TVA in his own Disney Plus series of the same name, Loki. It would be great to see Loki fix his messes and finally reunite with his brother for a new movie.

1 The Thor, The Merrier

When Doctor Jane Foster returned to Thor’s life wielding a reforged Mjolnir, it caused quite the intrigue in the Thor mythos. Mighty Thor was the title given to Jane Foster when she was worthy of wielding Mjolnir. Yet, she is not the first to be worthy of Thor’s hammer.

With movies like Spider-Man: No Way Home showing what is possible for team-ups and fan service, it’s entirely possible that fans could see more Thors turn up in the MCU. Characters like the Korbinite, Beta Ray Bill, or Throg could serve for great and fun stories alongside Chris Hemsworth’s Thor.

Thor: Love and Thunder is currently in theaters.
