Dragon Ball: The Breakers is a new asymmetrical multiplayer game developed by DIMPS and published by Bandai Namco. Rather than being a typical player vs player fighting game, Dragon Ball: The Breakers focuses more on player cooperation for survival. Seven ordinary citizens find themselves caught amidst a temporal phenomenon. The only means to escape is the Super Time Machine, but an overpowered enemy from another timeline, known as a raider threatens to eradicate the survivors before they can escape.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers is a game of cat and mouse, where a raider clashes with the survivors in a race against time. Both the raider and survivors are controlled by players making every match more engaging. Though initially conflicted, players are rapidly taking to the game. The main reason for this is not only the fact that asymmetrical games are gaining mainstream popularity these days but also the creative way that the developers make use of the Dragon Ball IP.

Although the game shows a lot of promise and has a lot to offer, after a couple of matchups, players are starting to feel that it is a little lacking in content. With decades of source material to pull from, Dragon Ball: The Breakers has so far only utilized a handful of Characters and Locations. If this game does not want to end up being forgotten, developers will have to come up with some major improvements.

5 Cross Platform Play

Platforms For Dragon Ball: The Breakers

Gaming has never been more accessible than it is today, and yet corporations are still intent on limiting the gaming experience. Dragon Ball: The Breakers, like many other modern games, so far does not offer cross-platform gameplay. This is surprising, really, considering the game has been released for all major consoles.

As crossplay is increasing in demand, more and more games can be seen turning to this style of gaming, including Fortnite and Among Us. Developers should work on enabling this feature to assure a long-lasting player base for this game and to deal with the ridiculously long wait times on Xbox platforms.

4 More Villains as Raiders

Great Ape Vegeta As A Ne Raider

It seems unfair for Developers to have only included three of the most iconic villains from the Dragon Ball franchise and only ones from Dragon Ball Z. Though Frieza, Cell, and Buu are beloved classics, fans have had enough of the same villains appearing in every Dragon Ball Game. At the very least, Dragon Ball: The Breakers should have included at least one new villain from the Super series.

Judging from the launch trailer of the game, which revealed Great Ape Vegeta as the next raider to join the roaster, there is still hope on this front. Fans might still have a chance to see Characters like Zamasu, Beerus, and even Broly become raiders in future updates to the game.

3 Wishes From The Dragon Balls

Shenron In Dragon Ball: The Breakers

Somehow, in some way, the Dragon Balls always find a way to be included in Dragon Ball Games. Fans of the franchise are very familiar with the significance of Dragon Balls within the anime. Time and time again, these wish-granting orange balls have been used to revive a fallen Z-Fighter. However, the use of the Dragon Balls in Dragon Ball: The Breakers is disappointingly limited.

As a survivor, if players are able to summon Shenron, they can wish to get the Ultimate Dragon Change for themselves or increase the Dragon Change levels of all their allies. As a raider, players can increase their evolutionary form by one or heal up. For a game that focuses on survival, being able to revive a fallen comrade in the game appears to be a very logical feature to have. Sadly, however, the way the Dragon Balls have been utilized in this game is very underwhelming and needs to be improved.

2 Block and Shield

Dragon Ball: The Breakers Gameplay

It might be surprising for some players to find out that Dragon Ball: The Breakers does not come with a block feature. Instead, players can only dodge the attacks from a raider. This does make sense considering the Power Level difference between the raider and the survivors but is still quite annoying.

Players would much rather have a block mechanic with a cool-down timer than only being able to dodge attacks. Another way to counter this problem would be to add shields in the game that players can find on the map and use. Without the inclusion of barriers, raiders feel somewhat overpowered as they can finish off survivors fairly quickly.

1 More Familiar-Faced Survivors

Bulma and Oolong In Dragon Ball: The Breakers

It is understandable why Dragon Ball: The Breakers does not let players play as any of the main Z-Fighters, but there is no reason why the developers couldn't have included more familiar faces as other survivors. Other than the raiders, only Bulma and Oolong are characters that fans know.

In the franchise, however, there are many characters that can fit the survivor category. One such example would be Mr.Satan with all his bluffs included. Players are bound to have a blast with this character if the developers incorporate him well. Another fun character to use as a survivor would be Yajirobe. Such characters can add a lot of variety to the survivor tropes in the game. They can even be used as level0 characters providing only passive skills to survivors.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers is available on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
