For better or worse, these kinds of games will never see the light of day in today's modern video gaming scene.

The two original games in this franchise were huge successes, and are still beloved by fans today. Therefore, the release of these third-person shooters set in the Star Wars universe is set to be huge. However, there are some things that fans and newcomers may want to know before they jump into these classic games.

7 No Sequel Trilogy

These Games Were Released Before The Disney Buy Out

Both of the most recent games in the Star Wars Battlefront series featured a lot of content and characters from the Disney era of Star Wars movies. This is because these games came out during a time when the Star Wars sequels were the biggest things in pop culture.

Rewind to 2004, and the prequel trilogy of Star Wars movies were the biggest thing in pop culture. Plus, Disney did not yet own the franchise. Therefore, the new Star Wars Classic Collection will only feature content from the first two trilogies in the Star Wars saga.

6 New Hero Assault Maps

Playing As Jedi And Sith Outside Tattooine

One of the best things the first Star Wars Battlefront did was add playable heroes and villains to the second game. Sadly, these famous faces from the movies were only available to be used briefly on certain maps, and only when the player has reached a certain score. As such, players can only swing a lightsaber like Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader for a brief time in regular play. However, players can activate the hero assault mission on the Mos Eisley map, which allows them to enter a normal round of Battlefront conquest with all the heroes and villains in the game.

Heroes & Villains are a huge part of Battlefront 2. But no one looks forward to playing these characters.

For fans of these original games, this was one of the best features, despite it only being included on one map. Older fans can rejoice as the Hero Assault mode is returning to the new Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection, and it will be available to play on other maps, including Kashyyk, Kamino, and Naboo.

5 New Map In Battllefront One

Return To An Iconic Location Not Included In The Original Game

One of the most recognizable locations in the Star Wars franchise is Jabba's Palace from Return of the Jedi. Since the first Star Wars Battlefront game featured many of the iconic locations from the series, it was strange that the game did not feature it Jabba's home as a playable map. Luckily, the second game rectified this situation by including Jabba's Palace as a map, complete with the droid torture room, a frozen Han Solo, and Jabba himself sitting on his throne.

It looks like the Star Wars Classic Collection is rectifying this mistake again, as the map of Jabba's Palace is going to be included in the new remaster in the first game as an added bonus.

4 Both Campaigns Are Returning

Play These Games As Intended

The big draw for fans of the Star Wars Battlefront saga is the fact that players get to join in and play as soldiers in some of the biggest battles from the Star Wars universe. They could do this in an online match, in free play, in a Galactic Conquest, or play through the story in each movie as one of the four main factions in a brilliant campaign mode.

The campaign modes in the original Star Wars Battlefront games are some of the best in the franchise, and the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is bringing all these campaigns back. Therefore, players will be able to accurately recreate the epic fights on Yavin 4 and Hoth once again.

3 FMV's

The Story Of Star Wars Is Being Told Again

An old feature that many video games based on TV shows and movies used to include were FMV's. These are small cutscenes lifted directly from the property the game is based on that are used to help tell the story within the game. The Star Wars Battlefront games were no different, and they often included small clips from the movies before or after a campaign mission to help players follow along with the story.

Since Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is a modern release, many fans have come to expect that these FMV's will be removed. That is not the case, though, and all the FMV's from the original games are returning, and they are clearer than ever.

2 Reviews Have Been Good

Press Has Been Limited Due To The Small Release Window

One of the issues that is facing the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is the brief press window that players have to hear about the game before it is released. The game's existence was announced just three short weeks before it was to be released to the public, and things like this normally have fans worried about quality and bugs.

Fortunately, players do not have to worry, as the game is currently receiving largely positive reviews. One review from Forbes has stated that the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection feels less like a remaster of the old games and more like a direct port to modern consoles. This can be seen as both good and bad, as there is a lot to love about the original games. However, this also means that this new collection will still suffer from poor AI in the enemy troops.

1 Aspyr Are The Lead Developers

A Familiar Name Was Given This Project

The new Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is being developed by Lucas Arts alongside a company called Aspyr. If that name sounds familiar, it is because this company was behind the recent and successful remaster of Tomb Raider 2.

Many fans will also be pleased to hear that this is the developer behind Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, Star Wars: Jedi Outcast, and many more well-liked titles. Therefore, with the developer already having a Star Wars game under their belts, fans can breathe a sigh of relief that this remaster is in the hands of a company that knows how to work within this universe.
