Despite the fact that The Witcher books, shows, and games all have the Witcher in their titles, they give a lot of space to sorceresses as well. After all, the main character, Geralt of Rivia, is in love with the sorceress Yennefer and his adoptive daughter Ciri has magic powers too.

For every prominent character such as Yennefer and Ciri, there are several lesser-known, supporting sorceresses, that have yet to appear in any of the games. In some cases, it's because they died or lived after the events of the games. But other times, their absence seems like an oversight and if they showed up, it could make the already rich world of The Witcher games even more interesting.

5 Pavetta

Pavetta in The Witcher

Even though Ciri's mother, Pavetta, is referenced in the games by other characters, and she plays a part in the Netflix series The Witcher, she doesn't appear in any of the three games in person. Pavetta isn't a traditional sorceress like Yennefer or Triss. For one, she didn't have to give up her ability to have children in order to possess magic. That allowed her to pass her talent to Ciri who later managed to learn how to control her powers in ways that her mother never did.

As the descendant of the Elder Blood, Pavetta had a fiery temperament and didn't always keep her powers in check. Her magic was instinctive and uncontrolled, and it could burst out when she felt threatened or when those she cared about were in danger. Pavetta most famously demonstrated her power when her mother, Queen Calanthé, wanted to kill Pavetta's lover Duny who would later become her husband and the emperor of Nilfgaard, Emhyr var Emreis.

4 Tissaia De Vries

Tissaia

Tissaia de Vries wasn't a main character in the series, but she played an important part in Yennefer's life. She was Yennefer's teacher at the magical school Aretuza and helped Yennefer discover and master her powers. Tissaia was one of the more experienced and older sorceresses, who used her power to influence politics, kings, and queens. Tissaia's character left a lot to be desired as she could be strict, even cruel to those in her care. For example, when she thought that Ciri was a student at Aretuza during a random encounter, she didn't hesitate and used magic against the girl.

However, Tissaia wasn't all bad as she helped Geralt get to safety when he was injured. The games mention Tissaia, among other things as a writer who published several tomes about magic, but she doesn't appear in them as she's already dead by the time the games take place, having died in the books.

3 Francesca Findabair

Elven sorceress Francesca Findabair

The world of The Witcher works with multiple sorceresses but Francesca Findabair is unique. Not only is she an elf whereas most sorceresses started out as human girls, but she's also a queen. She ruled the elves of Dol Blathanna, and as such, she mostly kept her distance from courtly intrigue and other issues of the Northern Realms. However, she was still invested in the life of the magical community. So much so that she was one of the founding members of the Lodge of Sorceresses which included members such as Triss Merigold or Philippa Eilhart.

Francesca held a special reputation among humans and elves alike. Not only was she known for her intelligence and power, but she also was thought of as the most beautiful woman in the world. Francesca didn't appear in person in The Witcher game trilogy, but she was seen in The Witcher 3 as she had her own Gwent card, and she also had a separate entry in The Witcher 2.

2 Visenna

Mother of Geralt Visenna sitting down

Geralt's mother Visenna is one of the few rare sorceresses who was able to give birth to a child despite having magical powers. She left Geralt behind when he was a child and Vesemir took Geralt under his wing to train him as a witcher. By the time Geralt reunited with his mother, she looked the same age as him or even younger, hinting at the fact that she was using magic to postpone her aging like sorceresses usually do in The Witcher.

Even though Visenna had abandoned Geralt, she still cared about him even years later. She proved this when she used her magic to heal serious injuries Geralt had suffered at one point. Visenna played a role in both the Polish series The Hexer and the Netflix show The Witcher but has yet to appear in any The Witcher game. However, unlike other characters who died before the games started, Visenna is likely to still be alive which means there's a higher chance she could show up one day than with other sorceresses.

1 Condwiramurs Tilly

The Witcher Condwiramurs Tilly

As one of the few sorceresses that didn't appear in person in any of The Witcher shows, Condwiramurs Tilly stands out thanks to her powers. She's an oneiromancer, a sorceress who can interpret dreams and learn more about other people via her dreams. She used this ability to discover more about Ciri's tale that has been considered a mere legend by the time Condwiramurs lived.

Even though she wasn't seen in the games due to the fact she lived in different times, reflections of her character are present in Corinne Tilly, the oneiromancer whom Geralt visits in Novigrad in The Witcher 3 to help him find Ciri. It's possible Corinne could be one of Condwiramurs' ancestors, but this hasn't been officially confirmed.
