Throughout The Witcher games, Triss Merigold has proven to be a very tough sorceress with incredible knowledge and power. She has used her talents to protect those she cares about and to further herself in her endeavors. Though she's not always present in Geralt's story, there are some bosses that she would totally be able to knock down if she faced them before the witcher did.

On the same lines, there are also some bosses that are way out of Triss's league. The red-haired woman could do some intense damage on bosses players have seen in the games. Without further ado, here are five bosses she could definitely take down and five that she couldn't.

10 She Could Beat: Nithral

The-Witcher-Nithral

In The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, the first member of the Wild Hunt that Geralt has to face is Nithral. He fights alongside Keira Metz, another sorceress, and they take down the enemy together. With how helpful Keira is during the fight, it's pretty obvious that Triss would be just as, if not much more, helpful to Geralt during the Wild Hunt battle. With Merigold's vast magical knowledge paired with her strong fire blasts going against Nithrals ice-cold abilities, she could definitely take him down without the witcher's help at all.

9 She Couldn't Beat: The Operator

The-Witcher-Operator

One of the hardest battles in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, the Operator uses unique and hard to counter attacks that have left many players redoing the battle over and over again. Geralt has to face this enemy on his way to save Triss, proving that she couldn't handle the fierce foe on her own. The battle includes fighting gargoyles too, which are some of the strongest monsters in the series, and Triss would definitely be tripping up when taking down monsters, something Geralt is much more accustomed to.

8 She Could Beat: Kayran

The-Witcher-Kayran

Also in The Witcher 2, the giant beast named the Kayran is a tough creature that Geralt has to take down alone. Though Triss isn't as well versed in fighting massive and slimy monsters like the witcher does, she could definitely use her specialized abilities to win this fight.

Triss is talented in protective magic, so she could surely protect herself from the attacks of the monster, as Geralt does with his Quen ability. By avoiding hits from the tentacles and attacking by using set up traps, the Kayran can be taken down without having to get too up close and personal with it. Triss would be able to take down this gross-looking monster.

7 She Couldn't Beat: Dettlaff

The-Witcher-Dettlaff

Dettlaff appears in The Witcher 3 DLC expansion, Blood and Wine. He is a higher vampire, one of the strongest beings to exist in the franchise. Even Geralt barely manages to overcome this terrifying foe, and that's only after getting plenty of intel and help from others. Triss would not be able to keep up with the vicious attacks, impossible to track speed, and powerful blows that Dettlaff could deal. Higher vampires are not taken down easily, and can never truly die by the hands of a human, making the enemy way out of her fighting league.

6 She Could Beat: Toad Prince

The-Witcher-Toad-Prince

The Toad Prince is the first boss battle in the third game's DLC expansion pack, Hearts of Stone. The giant cursed toad is a toughie, but he can be defeated with patience, defense, and long-range attacks, all of which Triss is talented in. She could protect herself with strong shielding spells to avoid the toad's leaping attacks and could avoid his poisonous moves by staying at a distance from it. Her fireballs would prove effective in this match since she could shoot them at the enemy without being in range of his blows.

5 She Couldn't Beat: Eredin

The-Witcher-Eredin-2

Eredin is the King of the Wild Hunt and is taken down by Geralt alone. Even Ciri didn't stand a chance against this villain since her powers weren't under control yet. He uses insane magic to nearly defeat Geralt, though the witcher is too powerful when it comes to protecting those he loves.

Triss, however, does not have the experience fighting the Wild Hunt as the gray-haired man does, and her abilities can only do so much against such powerful foes. There aren't many who could win a battle against this guy, anyone could agree with that!

4 She Could Beat: Koshchey

The-Witcher-Koshchey

In the original Witcher game, Geralt has to face this creepy-crawly enemy that looks like a mixture of a giant spider and a crab. It is super strong and can kill dozens of people at a time with its highly destructive tendencies. Triss would be able to fight this guy and win since it has a weakness to flames. Triss could stay just out of range of the monster's fierce attacks and rain down a fury of fireballs at him to end it's life swiftly. Her power would definitely overcome Koshchey's.

3 She Couldn't Beat: The Crones

The-Witcher-Crones

The Crones are a major boss fight in The Witcher 3, where the player gets to fight as Ciri. As the powerful woman gets a grip on her nearly unbeatable Elder Blood abilities, she is the only one who could take down all three wicked Crones at once. Triss could do her best to attack the blood-lusting creatures one at a time or all at once, but she would be eventually overtaken by their immense power and killed. Ciri barely even defeated all three, since one of them ends up escaping with her amulet at the end of the battle.

2 She Could Beat: Saskia The Dragon

The-Witcher-Saskia-Dragon

The fight against Saskia the Dragon in The Witcher 2 is no easy one, it takes place in very close quarters and involves a lot of dodging powerful attacks. However, Triss is skilled in healing magic and could hang on for a long time during this lengthy fight.

In any situation where Triss would be going up against this tough boss, she would be able to overcome the power of the dragon with her quick reflexes, intelligence and tactical abilities, and strong defense. Triss would also make sure not to kill the dragon but to spare it, for she is a sorceress who wants to help avoid death and destruction.

1 She Couldn't Beat: Caranthir

The-Witcher-Caranthir

One of the final battles in the main story of the third game is Caranthir, the mage and lieutenant of the Wild Hunt. He is incredibly strong and requires a lot of strength to take down. Both Ciri and Geralt have to take on Caranthir before he is finally defeated, and Ciri actually takes some pretty intense damage before she has to flee and let the witcher finish the job. Triss is definitely strong, but her strength doesn't compare to either Geralt or Ciri's. She would be best fighting lower Wild Hunt members than this mighty one.
