Toussaint is a land of wine, beauty, and chivalric knights straight out of fairytales in The Witcher 3. Players will visit this area as it is the main location where the Blood and Wine expansion takes place. The expansion pack takes Geralt on a journey spanning 15-20 hours filled with new characters and monsters to hunt. Impatient players who have already completed the main story can choose to start Blood and Wine directly from the main menu with an appropriately leveled Geralt. This guide will aid players going through the game naturally on how to get to the Duchy of Toussaint. Going to Toussaint begins the DLC, so players should have Geralt around level 34 as there are some powerful enemies that will immediately be a problem if under leveled.

Check Notice Boards in Velen

The quest to start the Blood and Wine is not automatically added to the quest log like the previous expansion. Players must have progressed far enough in the main story to complete the A Poet Under Pressure quest. Once they have done so notice boards in Velen will gain a message to Geralt. Go to any of the notice boards and pick up the one that is titled "Appeal to Sir Geralt of Rivia, the Bridge his Crest."

Go to the Stonecutter's Settlement

After the message has been received, the quest Envoys, Wineboys will be added to the quest log. The objective leads to the Stonecutter's Settlement location to the west of Oxenfurt and meeting two knights from Toussaint.

Defend the Village

Once Geralt meets the knights they enlist his aid in defending the village from a nasty group of bandits. There are around a dozen or so level 35 bandits that the player has to fight alongside the knights. The knights will do some damage on their own, but the player will have to finish most of them off.

Accept the Contract

With the village saved the knights have a message for Geralt. The Duchess of Toussaint has requested Geralt himself for a special Witcher contract. A mysterious creature is killing nobility in Toussaint, and it's up to Geralt to find it and stop it. Players can choose to decline if they aren't ready for high leveled monsters yet. This will leave the knights in the village awaiting Geralt's return. If players are ready to continue they have to accept the quest to start the expansion and travel to Toussaint.

Defeat Golyat

The knights and Geralt will travel to Toussaint in a cutscene only to immediately encounter a giant fighting a knight. The giant Golyat can be a difficult enemy to defeat as he does a lot of damage with each swing. However, if players are good with Geralt's crossbow and can shoot Golyat in the eye with it, he will go down instantly. Geralt is now in Toussaint and the story will progress through the Blood and Wine expansion.

The Witcher 3 is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch.
