When Geralt of Rivia begins his journey through The Witcher 3's two story DLCs, Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine, his Gwent deck should already be quite formidable. Between the "Collect 'Em All" mission and the "Card Collector" trophy/achievement, Geralt should be able to take down any card-slinging foe the continent is likely to throw at him. This doesn't mean, however, that the new content doesn't add more cards for Geralt to obsessively hunt down, roaming from town to town begging for matches.

Both major story expansions for The Witcher 3 introduce new Gwent cards, with Blood & Wine going so far as to introduce an entirely new deck. Players had wondered why Skellige did not merit its own deck, and CD Projekt Red rectified the situation by adding it to the final DLC. Much like the base game, cards can be found, won, or purchased, though the Skellige deck is slightly different. Just as Geralt starts the base game with the base Northern Realms deck, he can acquire the base Skellige deck and build it up throughout his time in Toussaint.

The Hearts of Stone expansion for The Witcher 3 introduces Gwent cards based on various characters featured in the new content. Much like the base game, cards can be found, won, or purchased.

Blood & Wine will offer Geralt the chance to fully build the new Skellige deck. Through the "Never Fear, Skellige;s Here" mission, he will be able to acquire the base deck, similar to the Northern Realms deck he starts the main game with. Here, all the available cards must be won from various merchants and craftsmen.

Witcher 3 Master Mirror casts a spell on Geralt on the Ofieri ship

There are four cards that can be won from the various characters Geralt meets in The Witcher 3's first story DLC.

Olgierd Von Everic, The Alchemy, Oxenfurt:

Card 1: Toad (Monsters)

  • Over the course of Hearts of Stone's main story, Geralt will have the opportunity to challenge Olgierd to a round of Gwent. One of the best opportunities is when Geralt meets Von Everic at the Alchemy Inn, Oxenfurt's main tavern.

Shani, Shani's Clinic, Oxenfurt:

Card 2: Olgierd Von Everic (Neutral)

  • Shani can be played after being saved by Gaunter O'Dimm and returning to the city. Geralt will have to meet Shani at her clinic in Oxenfurt for story purposes. She may not be immediately available, but continue to check in on her after each quest, eventually she will show the option to request a Gwent match.

Hilbert, Borsodi Auction House, Oxenfurt:

Card 3: Gaunter O'Dimm (Neutral)

  • During the mission "Open Sesame!," Geralt will have the opportunity to play Hilbert while waiting for the auction to begin. This will be the "human form" version of Gaunter O'Dimm. His "Darkness" versions are purchased from merchants.

Be careful, if Geralt does not acquire the card here, he will not be able to get it any other way. This is the only time Geralt will interact with Hilbert in the entire game.

Shopkeeper, Near Carsten, Velen:

Card 4: Schirru (Scoia'tael)

  • Slightly northwest of the small village of Carsten, what appears to be an elven carnival troupe can be found in a small meadow. It's their shopkeeper that Geralt will play to win the Schirru card.

All Gwent Cards From Blood & Wine - Skellige Deck

Witcher-3-Skellige-Deck

Geralt can begin obtaining the Skellige deck by defeating any of the merchants or craftsmen in Toussaint. They will award Geralt a card from the Skellige deck and make the "Gwent: Never Fear, Skellige's Here" and "Gwent: To Everything - Turn, Turn, Tournament!" quests available. Selecting either mission will lead Geralt to the appropriate location to retrieve the base deck.

Speak to Count Monnier, who will tell Geralt about a tournament he may enter if he agrees to play the Skellige deck. Geralt will then be tasked with completing the deck before returning.

Completing the Skellige Deck:

Unlike the "Collect 'Em All" quest in The Witcher 3, "Never Fear, Skellige's Here" actually shows the exact location of every match Geralt must play to complete the deck.
