The Witcher 3 has amazing and memorable contracts that reward players with much-needed crowns, XP, and loot. One such quest, Doors Slamming Shut, offers a great sword, a valuable trophy, and those precious crowns. While The Witcher 3 offers a lot of assistance, Doors Slamming Shut can leave player scratching their heads regarding what needs to be done to complete the contract.
Doors Slamming Shut is a contract that can be found in Novigrad, and it requires Geralt to find out what creature is causing the commotion in a haunted mansion. To complete this quest, players must be level 24 or above.
Doors Slamming Shut – Walkthrough
To find the contract, head to the marketplace in Novigrad, where The Contract: Haunted House will be on the notice board at Hierarch Square. Speak to Kurt Dysart at the pub outside Priscilla’s room, and then head outside Novigrad City to the haunted mansion called the Moldavie Residence.
Enter the mansion and use Witcher senses to find clues. These will lead Geralt to the basement. Head there, and use Aard to destroy the wall. Look for more clues using Witcher senses. Players will then be able to locate the journal to learn about the earth elemental, Therazane, behind the door.
To open the door, activate the lever to the right after swimming. Return to the door and enter the chamber to find the earth elemental trapped in a magical barrier. Go behind the barrier to deactivate it by destroying the orb using Aard. Finally, Geralt must fight and defeat the earth elemental.
Doors Slamming Shut – Consequences and Rewards
If the wooden props are destroyed during the battle with the earth elemental, it will lead to the death of Kurt Dysart. Kurt Dysart dies after returning to the estate while exploring the caves, despite Geralt’s warnings. If players want to keep him alive, take extra care not to destoy any of the surrounding items.
Upon completion of Doors Slamming Shut, the player will be rewarded with 200 crowns, or more based on negotiations. They will also get an elemental earth trophy, a relic steel sword, and 300 XP. The player will also be awarded the Ashes to Ashes trophy/achievement.
Doors Slamming Shut – Strategies and Tips
The following strategies can help players in their battle against the earth elemental:
- Use Elemental Oil on the silver sword for bonus damage against the earth elemental.
- The earth elemental is immune to magic, meaning Igni, Axius, or Aard will not work.
- Use Quen to defend against attacks.
- Use Yrden to slow down the earth elemental to deliver quick attacks.
- Prevent the earth elemental from casting spells by using Dimeritium bombs. As soon as the earth elemental is about to cast a spell, throw a Dimeritium bomb immediately to stop the monster dead in its tracks and start attacking.
