CD Projekt Red is no stranger to designing and executing RPGs that come to life, thanks to their deep lore. The studio's beloved title The Witcher 3 is known in the gaming community as one of the most complex RPGs of all time, featuring an extensive open world and intricate bestiary.

The Bestiary in The Witcher 3 is a tool all players should get acquainted with, since it provides valuable information concerning the harrowing beasts that lurk around The Continent. But, one type of creature that players should pay particular attention to is the Elf Boss, Nithral. It's a difficult creature to defeat, but players can do so with a few tricks up their sleeves.

Nithril Explained

The Witcher 3 Nithril Explained

Players will fight Nithtil towards the end of the main quest "Wandering in the Dark." Nithril Wild Hunt, so players should expect a long and tough fight. Nithril is fast and can easily counter Geralt's attacks, meaning players must avoid attacking him relentlessly. On top of that, this voss is immune to most Signs (at least most of the useful ones), except for Quen since it's a self-buff.

Luckily, Geralt isn't alone in fighting Nithril. Kiera Metz (a powerful sorceress) is also present, which helps distract Nithril during the fight. Players should bring several Silver Swords for the fight, due to the number of hounds Nithril summons, and swap them out whenever their durability drops too much. The only Sign players should equip for this boss is Quen, since it fortifies Geralt's defenses. As for Potions, players should craft Thunderbolt since it increases Attack Power by 30%. The Swallow potion (Regeneration +1) is another useful tool to bring, but players must ensure that Nithril is distracted before attempting to use it.

Nithril's Battle Phases

The Witcher 3 Nithril Phase 1 There are three phases in the Nithril boss fight, each phase exactly the same as the previous one.
During the first phase, Nithril has a faster reaction time, meaning he'll counter most of Geralt's attacks. The best tactic for the first phase is to
use Quen, unleash 2-3 Heavy Attacks, and then let Kiera Metz agro Nithril while Geralt recovers Stamina. At the same time, players can use Thunderbolt while keeping an eye on Geralt's Toxicity Levels .

Once Nithril loses a certain amount of HP, he kneels and creates a protective bubble. During that time, Nithril cannot be damaged and will summon a pack of Hounds. As long as the Hounds are alive, Nithril will recover HP, so players must eliminate them as fast as they can. (The Igni Sign is very effective against them.) The following two phases are quite similar, except Nithril starts to have slower reaction times but stronger (and heavier) attacks.

The Witcher 3 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch.
