Norman Reedus has proven to be the little actor that could, having first made his way in the Boondock Saints movies and a string of smaller successes before hitting big when he landed the role of Daryl Dixon, the redneck with a heart of gold and a moral compass to match in the AMC series The Walking Dead. He’s since starred in video games such as Death Stranding, and the latest news is that he’ll be joining the deadly demimonde of John Wick’s many assassins.

Reedus, as reported by Deadline, the fan-favorite zombie killer ever since he first started slaughtering the undead (and facing off with human marauders) for AMC, is the latest to jump into the wide world of Wick in the upcoming Ana de Armas-starring Ballerina spinoff.

Norman Reedus has been making quite the name for himself ever since he took on the fan-favorite role of Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead, a character who stepped out of the shadow of his bigger, more bastardly brother, Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) and has gone on to star in all 11 seasons of the long-running show as well as his own spinoff. It’s also seen him become a video game star, first in Guillermo del Toro’s Silent Hill idea, P.T., and then in the Hideo Kojima game, Death Stranding, wherein he has to use his gruff skills to help shepherd a baby across a post-apocalyptic landscape. It’s only fitting that someone who has established himself as one of modern pop culture’s most popular badasses across multiple mediums will join the world of John Wick in the upcoming Ballerina spinoff.

Reedus will be joining a cast that continues to impress with each new addition that gets added. Catalina Sandino Moreno was recently announced to star in a sizable role alongside Ian McShane who plays Winston, the manager of the neutral zone for assassins known as the Continental Hotel, Lance Reddick who plays Charon, and beloved actress Anjelica Huston returning as the head of the Ruska Roma crime syndicate (and trainer of the titular ballerinas). There’s even word that Keanu Reeves himself will be jumping in on the murderous fun in a brief cameo as the main man responsible for the series.

Keanu Reeves, at a recent panel for Comic-Con Experience 2022, finally revealed some of what fans could expect, after confirming that he had already shot several sequences for the spinoff movie meaning fans will get more John Wick outside of the upcoming fourquel. According to Reeves, the central premise of the picture will be Ana de Armas’ ballerina finding out who killed her father, what that means for her past, and how she fits into the wider world of the John Wickiverse as she searches for the tattooed man who killed said papa. If the film is anything like the main series, all the twists, turns, violence, and betrayals will certainly keep this Ballerina on her toes.

Ballerina is currently in production.
