Skybound Games' The Walking Dead: Betrayal recently confirmed its open beta dates. First announced last July, The Walking Dead: Betrayal has been likened to Among Us as it will require players to find the traitor among their ranks.

The highly popular The Walking Dead television series featured many alliances that fell apart due to sudden betrayals. Fans also got to experience this in Telltale's Walking Dead, where they made decisions that impacted the game's story. The Walking Dead: Betrayal aims to take this theme to the next level as eight players, known as survivors, would have to work together to find resources and escape a herd of walkers. They also have to get rid of the traitor that's sabotaging their plans.

The Walking Dead: Betrayal doesn't have an official release date yet, but Skybound Games announced that it's going to have an open beta test from August 25 (9am PT) to August 28 (9am PT). Interested players can sign up via The Walking Dead: Betrayal's Steam page. They can also join the game's Discord channel to get important updates from the developers. To prepare for the game, Skybound Games uploaded a "How to Play" video that gives a rundown of the gameplay and a peek at the map.

Compared to other social deduction games, The Walking Dead: Betrayal has made itself unique by featuring different weapons and skills that survivors and traitors can use to accomplish objectives. Since the title is being developed by Other Ocean Interactive, it shares some similarities with popular social deduction game Project Winter.

The Walking Dead: Betrayal has potential to reignite interest in zombie games, especially in a world where zombie shooters have dominated the genre. Many players might be interested in co-op gameplay that's different from the likes of Left 4 Dead and Back 4 Blood. Capitalizing on the popularity of social deduction games seems like the right move to allow The Walking Dead fans to play with friends, and be able to battle both walkers and fellow survivors.

Apart from The Walking Dead: Betrayal, many fans have been anticipating Skybound Games' Invincible Presents: Atom Eve, which is set to be a visual novel centered on the superheroine and her friends. Ubisoft has also partnered with Skybound to develop a free-to-play mobile game called Invincible: Guarding the Globe. The multimedia entertainment company has managed to produce video game titles that cater to a variety of fandoms, including pro wrestling with the RPG WrestleQuest.

The Walking Dead: Betrayal is in development for PC.
