The Sims 4: Werewolves pack introduces a classic supernatural life state back to the game - werewolves. The pack allows players to create their own werewolf Sims and experience a new way of playing. The werewolf life state functions similarly to The Sims 2: Pets and The Sims 3: Supernatural, with unique abilities and interactions. Werewolf Sims can transform into their wolf form at will, and sometimes without their will, hunt for prey, and even be in packs with other werewolves. Players can also customize their werewolf Sims with different fur colors and markings, as well as complete them with unique personalities and traits. The pack also introduces new clothing and build-mode items that are perfect for creating a rustic and mysterious atmosphere. While game packs typically offer fewer features than expansion packs, Werewolves still provides an immersive experience for players who enjoy supernatural themes. What's more, the pack has been praised for its smooth gameplay without any significant bugs or glitches, which was a problem in the previous game pack, My Wedding Stories.

There are several ways for Sims to transform into werewolves, much like the other main occult life states. First method is to create them on CAS. As with their vampire and mermaid occult counterparts, werewolf Sims can customize their occult form, including the appearance of their fur with the help of a color wheel and pattern options, similar to the customization options in the Cats & Dogs expansion. Additionally, werewolf offspring can be born into the occult, depending on whether at least one of the parents is a werewolf. If both parents are werewolves, the offspring will be born as a werewolf. Sims can also be turned into werewolves by asking other werewolves to do so. The transformation process takes some time and can lead to powerful moodlets that affect hunger decay, similar to the vampiric transformation. One unique aspect of becoming a werewolf is by accidentally contracting "werebies" through exploration or being bitten by a werewolf. While this disease is curable, if left untreated, Sims will eventually turn into werewolves. It's an interesting and unique aspect of the game that players should be aware of.

Werewolf Sims have access to a unique panel where they can learn and upgrade powerful abilities, similar to other supernatural Sims such as vampires or spellcasters. Completing certain actions also unlocks dormant abilities for free. In general, some of the unlockable abilities include treasure digging, food hunting, and howling techniques to control their fury. While they have the same basic needs as regular Sims, their fury meter builds up as they exhibit more animalistic behavior, potentially causing uncontrollable transformations into werewolf form, called the rampage stage. Fury meter is shown at the needs panel, similar to a spellcaster's charge panel. The full moon also affects werewolves and can trigger transformations, unless certain traits have been unlocked to prevent this. Sims can also choose to transform into the werewolf form at will. In addition to the fury meter and abilities, werewolf Sims also have temperaments that can impact how quickly their fury meter builds up. There are 22 different temperaments to choose from, ranging from flirty to prideful. However, a werewolf Sim can only have up to four temperaments at a time.

Werewolf Packs

Werewolves possess significant power, and their appearance and temperament can vary greatly. In addition, these creatures are highly social and engage in numerous interactions that revolve around their fellow werewolves. Werewolves have a unique set of interactions with each other, including playful activities like tug-of-war, sparring, and sharing experiences. However, they can also engage in brawls, which can result in injuries and negative relationship effects. In addition, werewolf packs play an important role in the gameplay experience, and a werewolf's personality can be influenced by the pack they belong to, as each pack has its own set of values.

Players have the option to either be a lone wolf or join one of the two available werewolf packs, each of which requires completing a set of tasks in a trial. The Moonwood Collective emphasizes civilized and controlled behavior, interacting politely with both werewolves and non-werewolves. In contrast, the Wildfangs embrace their animalistic instincts and prefer to live in the wilderness. Both packs have specific activities that players must complete to rank up all the way to alpha, and earn rewards such as items, abilities, and new interactions. Despite their opposing views and values, the Wildfangs and the Moonwood Collective start out with a neutral relationship. Depending on how players choose to interact with members of the other pack, this relationship can either improve or deteriorate, leading to potential rivalries or alliances. It's worth noting that players with Get Together expansion pack can form their own wolf packs in form of clubs. However, these will not have the same features as the main werewolf packs, nor will they have any werewolf activities accessible on the club creation menu.

Moonwood Mill

The Sims 4_ Moonwood Mill

Moonwood Mill is a rustic and enchanting world that immerses players in a forest-industrial atmosphere, with a strong focus on the lumber industry that has been overtaken by werewolves. The world is surrounded by towering trees, lush foliage, and a worn-down mill building that has become the heart of the town. The neighborhood is relatively small, consisting of only five lots, including two residential lots, a library, a bar, and an empty lot for players to customize. The lots are thoughtfully designed to fit within the world's overarching theme, with each one offering unique gameplay opportunities. The residential lots offer players a chance to create their own werewolf households, while the library is a great place to research the history of the town and the werewolves who inhabit it. The bar is a lively spot where werewolf Sims can gather to socialize and show off their unique abilities.

Moonwood Mill is an immersive world that caters exclusively to the needs of Werewolf Sims, offering a range of engaging features, hidden areas, and secrets to explore. Despite its compact size, this world provides ample opportunities for werewolves to engage in various activities, such as hunting for materials, digging for new collectibles, and exploring the hidden passageways that connect different areas of the world. One of the standout features of Moonwood Mill is its intricate rabbit hole system, which allows werewolves to travel through secret tunnels and hideouts that are inaccessible to regular Sims. These hidden areas are full of surprises, and players can uncover a range of useful items, and some of them are even customizable via items from the Sim's inventory.

Werewolf Aspirations

The Sims 4 Werewolf Aspirations

Werewolves introduce a new set of aspirations that are specific to the Werewolf gameplay, similar to the Journey to Batuu pack. The Werewolf aspiration category consists of five unique aspirations, but players can only access one of them in Create-A-Sim (CAS). To unlock the other aspirations, players must complete the introductory Werewolf Initiate aspiration. The remaining aspirations are focused on the different ways players can choose to live their Werewolf life, such as joining a pack, living as a lone wolf, or attempting to cure themselves. Each aspiration has only one level, and upon completion, players receive a reward trait.

The Werewolf Initiate aspiration is designed to be a simple introduction to the Werewolf lifestyle, with tasks such as becoming a werewolf, reading werewolf books, achieving the runt level, and experiencing a full moon. Upon completion, players receive the Fanged Friend reward trait, which improves their relationship gains with other Sims, including werewolves, humans, and other occult Sims.

The Lone Wolf aspiration is tailored for Sims who prefer to live their werewolf life as a lone wolf and reject the idea of joining a pack, even though they certainly can. However, the path to reaching the highest rank of Apex and unleashing their inner beast so many times is no walk in the park, making this one of the hardest aspirations in the bunch. They must still complete various tasks such as sparring with other werewolves and engaging in a challenging Werewolf Brawl with a notoriously skilled NPC named Greg. Players can discover who Greg is and how to locate him as they explore the lore of Moonwood Mill. To win against Greg, it is recommended that Sims unlock certain traits and a high fitness skill among many other factors. Once completed, Sims are rewarded with the Threatening Presence trait, which increases their fearful reputation and can even cause other Sims to faint in fright.

On the other hand, the Emissary of the Collective aspiration is ideal for werewolves who wish to align themselves with the values of the Moonwood Collective and maintain control over their werewolf abilities. Sims pursuing this aspiration must climb the ranks of the Collective, eventually becoming an Alpha. They must also socialize with both werewolf and non-werewolf Sims and strive to maintain control over their actions. Upon completion, Sims receive the Refined Lupine trait, which helps them to generate less fury than usual, making it easier to control their werewolf side. This is a valuable trait for those who wish to balance their werewolf abilities with a more normal life.

As the opposite of the Emissary of the Collective, Wildfang Renegades aspire to join and rise to the ranks of the alpha in the Wildfang pack, turn other Sims into werewolves and more. As a reward, Sims will be awarded the Chomp Champion Trait. Those turned into werewolves by a werewolf who owns this trait will not have a negative reaction to the transformation and will be more likely to join the pack of the turner. This trait is a great reward for those looking to increase the werewolf population in the game.

The Cure Seeker aspiration is the final werewolf aspiration for those who wish to become a human Sim or try out other occults. To complete the aspiration, Sims must focus on finding the cure, collecting the required materials to craft it, and then drinking the cure. Aspiration reward is the Lunar Link trait, which allows Sims to still benefit from the lunar cycle even after reverting to their normal form. These benefits include increased fitness skill gain, fighting prowess, and relationship gain/loss depending on the phase of the moon.

New CAS And Build/Buy Items

The Sims 4 Werewolves CAS Build_Buy Items

The Sims 4 Werewolves boasts an impressive collection of CAS items, with nearly 150 pieces available for all ages and genders. This makes Werewolves one of the biggest CAS catalogs of all the game packs. The clothing items range from worn and tattered pieces that embody the typical werewolf look to more polished, “tame” items as well as grungy, punk-style pieces. This diversity of styles makes sense considering the two distinct wolf packs.

This pack offers almost 80 new items for Build mode, ranging from furniture and wallpapers to entire room sets. The items included in this pack match the aesthetic of the Moonwood Mill, with their grungy-industrial look. This may not appeal to everyone, but could be interesting for many players, especially those who want to create post-apocalyptic or abandoned areas, or for those who want to play a rags-to-riches story. The items have a worn and aged appearance, making them perfect for these types of stories.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S
