One of the biggest announcements of the Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase may surprise quite a few gamers. It's a new expansion for the iconic 2014 simulation game The Sims 4. But it's not just and DLC for The Sims 4. It's a Star Wars-themed DLC. Coming September 8. The Sims 4 players will be able to travel to a galaxy far, far away in the Journey to Batuu game pack. Electronic Arts confirms the DLC will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on launch.

The key promise of The Sims 4: Journey to Batuu is exactly what Star Wars fans would want. Players will be able to create their very own Star Wars characters in The Sims 4. Whether it's an obedient Storm Trooper or a wily smuggler, a treacherous Sith or an honorable Jedi, The Sims 4 players can customize their dream space-farer as they please. Players can then take these characters and use them to interact with notable Star Wars  characters including Rey Skywalker, Kylo Ren, and Hondo.

Players won't just be customizing characters, however. They'll also be customizing their homes. Journey to Batuu unlocks a variety of unique Batuu locations, including a classic Star Wars cantina and the Millennium Falcon itself. Within these locations area variety of fun Star Wars hijinx. For example, players can play the game Sabacc in the cantina. There's a ton of unique Star Wars-themed unlocks to discover and use to personalize players' The Sims 4 experience.

One other awesome major feature in Journey to Batuu is a completely new storyline for player to experience for themselves. This involves creating a character, choosing a faction from either the Resistance, the First Order, or a Batuu rebel faction, and interacting with the various Star Wars figures. Of course, while it'll be a unique Star Wars story for players to unravel on their own, players will still have the same freedom and player agency that The Sims 4 always promises, as well.

As with all prior DLC for The Sims 4, the Journey to Batuu game pack will require the base game in order to play. After that, the Journey to Batuu DLC will cost just $19.99 regardless of which platform the player is on. Once again, The Sims 4 players can pick up and play The Sims 4: Journey to Batuu starting on September 8 across all supported platforms.

The Sims 4 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
