Sixam is a hidden area in The Sims 4 that is shrouded in mystery and intrigue. It is a planet that can only be accessed through a few methods in the Get to Work expansion pack, adding to the allure of this unique destination. The world of Sixam is unlike anything players have experienced before, with a distinctive alien landscape, flora and geology. It is a surreal and otherworldly place that offers a completely environmental experience to that of the base game or even to the other worlds the packs offer. As players navigate through this mysterious planet, they will encounter strange and unexpected creatures, rare resources and artifacts that are exclusive to this world.

While it might not be noticeable to some The Sims 4 fans, at first glance, Sixam is named by reversing the word "Maxis". It is an otherworldly place that was only mentioned in passing during The Sims 3, but has now become a reality. This unique hidden area is only accessible through a specific method that involves gameplay from the Get to Work expansion pack, making it a rare and exciting discovery for those who manage to unlock its secrets. Once discovered, players will be able to explore and discover all that Sixam has to offer, including new experiences, items, and interactions that are exclusive to this strange and fascinating world.

How To Get To Sixam

Sims 4 Sixam

In order to access Sixam, there are two methods available for players. The first method involves increasing the rocket science skill, while the second method is locked behind the Scientist active career, which is introduced in the Get to Work pack along with other active careers.

While the first method is more straightforward and easier, the second method offers unique and additional interactions that players will miss out on otherwise. Although it may not be a significant issue, players interested in exploring all that the Scientist career has to offer may find the second method more intriguing as it is a very rewarding career.

First Method: Building A Rocket Ship

The Sims 4 Rocket Travel Through Wormhole

The first method of getting to Sixam involves players increasing their Rocket Science skill to level 10. This can be achieved by reading a skill book or practicing on a rocket ship, however, players are advised to build their own rocket ship as it is necessary to travel to Sixam. Players can purchase a "Steampunk Flyamajig" from Buy Mode under Outdoor Activities for 5000 Simoleons to start building their rocket ship. However, building a rocket ship can be relatively expensive as players will need to spend an additional 1000 Simoleons to build the rocket, and another 1000 Simoleons to install a Wormhole Generator at level 10. Once the rocket ship is built and upgraded, a new interaction will be unlocked, Travel Through Wormhole, which is required to reach Sixam. Players can also choose to upgrade their rocket ship with other upgrades for more space exploration opportunities that can help them get rare collectibles.

Alternatively, players can obtain a rocket ship without building one themselves. Sims who reach level 10 in either of the career branches in the Astronaut career will be rewarded with different-looking rockets. Another way is to attend the GeekCon Festival if the player owns the City Living Expansion Pack, where they can either build or interact with the built rocket ship at the festival.

Second Method: Scientist Career

The Sims 4 Scientist Career

To access Sixam via the second method, players must reach level 10 in the Scientist Career and upgrade an Electroflux Wormhole Generator (not the Wormhole Generator upgrade on Rocket ship) using the Invention Constructor at their workplace. This process requires collecting specific collectible materials such as metals, crystals, or elements, and reaching a certain amount of scientific breakthroughs (Eureka! moments).

While this method of accessing Sixam is free, it is more time-consuming compared to the first method. However, it is a rewarding career that offers a good amount of opportunities to make Simoleons. Additionally, Scientists may receive an assignment to travel to Sixam, where they will be honored with an alien party, an experience not available through the Rocket methods.

Sixam Activities

Upon arrival in Sixam, Sims will immediately notice the strikingly different environment compared to their familiar worlds. They will be greeted with colorful glowing pools, floating rocks, and an alien city in the distance. Although there is another planet visible in the sky, it remains inaccessible to Sims. However, players need not worry about their Sims' adaptation to the environment as no special equipment is required, and Sims can explore Sixam freely. Even Vampire sims will not be adversely affected here, since the sun is distant. An immersive addition, Sims' mobile phones won't work in Sixam as well.

In this new world, players can discover exclusive collectibles such as new plants, crystals, metals, and a new collection set called Geodes. These unique flowers can be harvested and planted in the Sims' original world through the gardening skill. The crystals, on the other hand, can be used to derive new elements.

Sixam is the home planet for Aliens in the Sims series, and a variety of them have been added with the Get To Work pack. Players can interact with and befriend these Aliens while on Sixam. However, finding Aliens on the planet is not guaranteed, and players may need to visit multiple times to come across them. Alternatively, if they have visited the planet via the special task in the Scientist career, they will always be greeted by the Aliens.

Although there are various ways to play as an Alien in The Sims 4, such as creating one through CAS, getting abducted, or becoming pregnant by an Alien Sim, visiting Sixam does not offer any unique methods of becoming an Alien. However, players can use cheats to easily add an Alien Sim to their household. After enabling cheats by opening the cheat console and typing "testingcheats on", players can add an Alien to their family by Shift or right-clicking on an Alien Sim and selecting the "Add to Family" option.

Once players have finished exploring Sixam, they can easily return to their own world by using the wormhole portal.

Can Players Build In Sixam?

The Sims 4 Sixam Trailer Artwork

In one of The Sims 4 trailers for Get to Work, there is a scene showing a human Sim engaging in flirty interactions with an Alien Sim in what appears to be a house on Sixam. However, upon arrival at Sixam, players will notice that such a house does not exist, and it is not possible to build in Sixam using normal build mode.

Nevertheless, there is a lot designation in Sixam, and players can use cheats or mods to build a house if they choose to do so. However, this is not recommended as it can interfere with finding aliens, particularly the alien party interaction from the Scientist Career.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
