A couple of weeks ago, EA released a new game pack for The Sims 4 called My Wedding Stories. Even before its February 23rd release, fans of the longstanding franchise were excited with all the new features and mechanics My Wedding Stories will bring to The Sims 4. However, shortly after its launch, players have been reporting numerous gameplay issues, prompting a response from EA.

Some issues reported by players include Sims not walking down the aisle, guests showing up in improper attire, guests doing inappropriate activities during the wedding, and many more. Of course, while these out-of-the-blue instances may be funny for some, it doesn't help Sims players orchestrate the wedding of their dreams. In a tweet posted several days ago via the official Sims Twitter account, the game developers revealed that it is working on a long laundry list of items to fix My Wedding Stories, which will be rolled out in an upcoming patch.

Fixes for the game pack will include adjustments to walking down the aisle, ensuring that guests dress for the occasion, allowing Sims from both sides to attend the wedding, regardless of who initiates the event, and many more. While the development team did not specify a release date for the roll-out of these improvements, it revealed that players should expect "two individual patch updates in the coming weeks, one release ahead of this My Wedding Stories patch of featured improvements."

Below are the fixes EA will implement to The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories:

  • Please Take Seats update for receptions and prevent blocking of other player-directed activities
  • Walking Down the Aisle adjustments
  • Invite Sims from both sides of the wedding, regardless of which Sim is planning the event
  • Guests arrive in their proper clothing
  • Guest attire stays selected after closing and reopening Wedding Planner
  • Improvements to Sims gathering for dessert time
  • Improvements to Sims gathering around the cake
  • Improved the amount of time needed before Wedding Cakes spoil
  • Cake toppers no longer floating
  • Cake model looks correct after cutting and serving
  • Adjustments to the Passionate Kiss animation
  • San Myshuno's Myshuno Meadows Center Park appearing in the wedding venue list
  • Paired dancing improvements

As per the list of improvements detailed above, it appears that EA is fixing every issue raised by players since the release of The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories. While this is reassuring for fans of the franchise, some were still dissatisfied with how EA handled the situation. It is worth remembering that the game pack was released on February 23rd, and the acknowledgment of issues and the promise of a fix was only revealed a week later, on February 4.

Apart from the bugs found in The Sims 4 My Wedding Stories, the game pack also made headlines before its release when EA announced that the expansion wouldn't be released in Russia, citing the country's restrictions on LGBTQ content in media. However, just days after the announcement, EA reversed its decision not to release My Wedding Stories in Russia, saying it "realized we can do more than we initially believed."

The Sims 4 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
