The Sims 4 now has Infants - a fun and cute life stage between Newborns and Toddlers. The purpose of Infants is to give players more exciting gameplay with babies compared to the now Newborns who are essentially objects confined to their bassinets. Before the Infant update, babies could not be customized and only had a few interactions. Infants, on the other hand, are lively and love to explore the world around them. There are also many ways to edit their appearance and personalities.

Players can either age up a Newborn into an Infant or make one immediately in Create-A-Sim (CAS). Like the other young life stages, Infants can be added to any household with an adult. The update includes new hairs, body marks, clothes, and traits, so this guide covers all the CAS options for Infants in The Sims 4.

Appearance and Clothes

Hair and Body

The Sims 4

Regarding appearance, players can customize every single feature of their Infant, including face, teeth, hair, and body. A newer and more inclusive addition is birthmarks on the face and body. Additionally, cute hairstyles for Infants cover a wide range of types, including wispy, thin, curly, or long. Lastly, there are new teeth that can fit every stage of teething.

Tops

The Sims 4

Infants got a few new sets of shirts, many modeled from Toddler tops already in the base game. The shirts feature bright colors, animals, and cute designs with a more childish look. The Growing Together Expansion pack adds several more clothes in each category.

Bottoms

The Sims 4

Same as the tops, the Infant's bottoms are styled similarly to many of the Toddler ones. Most of them also have a matching shirt to go with the look and include jeans, shorts, and skirts. Furthermore, all bottoms are unisex and fit the frame of masculine and feminine Infants the same, so players can mix and match if they choose.

Full Body

The Sims 4

The full-body fits for Infants range from onesies, dresses, tuxedoes, and hooded outfits. Again, some were recycled from Toddler full-body, but the Infants have cute new bear onesies and clothes that cover their hands for safety.

Accessories

The Sims 4

Infants didn't get too many accessories, but there are some adorable new headpieces, including a helmet that is common to help shape a baby's head after birth. Infants also got leggings, socks, glasses, and shoes. Most of this is cohesive with the shirts and bottoms so players can dress their Infants for success.

Personality Traits

The Sims 4 Infants

Infant personalities are some of the best parts of the update and help make each Infant feel unique and fleshed out. While Infants can't have Aspirations or Likes/Dislikes, six new traits represent the different types of babies simmers would want to play with.

  • Calm: These Sims like to watch the world, are less likely to cry or become angry, and don't grow tired of activities as easily as other infants; however, they are less likely to explore the world on their own.
  • Cautious: These Sims appreciate the familiar but are slow to warm up to new experiences, locations, and Sims.
  • Intense: These Sims have big emotions and are easily entertained, but they are also more difficult to calm when in a bad mood.
  • Wiggly: These Sims are always on the go and want to play and move about; however, they often struggle to fall asleep or pay attention for extended periods of time.
  • Sensitive: These Sims are prone to diaper rash, are often picky with food, and can more easily become overstimulated by too much play and social interaction; however, they also rest more peacefully through the night when soothed.
  • Sunny: These Sims are bursting with smiles and giggles and enjoy engaging with other Sims, but they require more social attention.

The Sims 4 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
