Initiate the Birthday Party

It is important to remember that if the Birthday Sim is a child or a toddler, they won't be able to host a birthday party on their own. In that case, the responsibility of planning and organizing the party should fall on an adult Sim, such as their parents or older siblings.

The basic fee for setting up a birthday party in The Sims 4 is 100 Simoleons. It is better to keep extra funds aside to ensure a smooth preparation and execution of the party.

- A Caterer can prepare the birthday cake and other dishes.
- An Entertainer can play music and get the party going.
- A Mixologist can prepare and serve the drinks to the guests, provided there is a bar available.
Pick a Location
The next step is selecting the place where the party is to be held. This can be either inside or outside the Sim’s home, depending on the space available to accommodate the guests. A party at their home will let the Sim have more control over the event, and allows for better organization. Alternatively, players can pick a party room from the Gallery. Whichever location players stick with, they need to ensure it is suitable for executing the interactions with the guests during the celebration.

When the birthday celebrations are peaking, players will see a short list of objectives displayed in the top left corner of the screen. They will also see the achievement bar, ranging from bronze to gold. One of the crucial tasks is to blow out the birthday candles, which not only advances the Sim’s age, but also guarantees a bronze achievement. However, there's more to do before that.
Bake a Birthday Cake
Players can either bake the cake themselves before the event or ask the caterer to do it. Once the cake is ready, put it on the counter and put candles. Remember that the main goal of the event is to arrange the cake and blow out candles, so players should prioritize it. Having said that, completing additional goals can help players earn various medals.
Complete Side Quests
Players can also complete various side objectives while celebrating their Sim’s birthday. These objectives will appear at random, and can include any of the following:
- Have at least four Sims eat cake or other party snacks. Players can use the "Call to Meal" interaction to encourage guests to eat.
- Have the birthday Sim chat with other Sims.
- Tell jokes.
- Have Sims dancing or playing music at the same time. To do this, the Birthday Sim should play the music, dance, and invite other Sims to join them on the dance floor. If there are a lot of guests, consider using a stereo to keep the party lively.
- Have Sims become Playful at the same time. Simmers can use mood-enhancing decor, such as the MuSims trophies, or tell jokes.
- Get the Birthday Sim to play a game with another Sim. This can be a game of chess, a card game, or a video game.
- Have drinks. To accomplish this goal, ask the mixologist to serve drinks from the bar. If players have not hired a bartender, they can serve the drinks themselves.
- Make a Toast. Navigate to the ‘Friendly’ section of the social menu and select the ‘make a toast’ option. Make sure that the birthday Sim is accompanied by two other Sims with drinks in their hands.
