7 Don't Spare Any Expenses
Just like in real life, it sometimes helps to have additional money to use on a social event. If the Sims aren't doing bad financially, they can increase their chance of getting a gold star for their social event by hiring a few extra people. It never hurts to go with a mixologist who will prepare drinks for the guests, an entertainer, who will play music, and finally, also a caterer who will take care of the food.
It can sometimes happen that the hired service isn't doing what they're supposed to, in which case, the Sim throwing the event should remind them what their job is. Hiring all of these people isn't the only thing a successful social event needs but it's a good start if the player wants the guests to have fun.
6 Do As Many Tasks As Possible
Just like in their career, the Sim who organized the event has a bar of tasks in the top left corner of the screen. It lists multiple tasks that the Sim should finish for their event to move into a higher tier. There are three tiers, and for the social event to get a gold star, the Sim has to fulfill enough tasks to get the bar into the third and final tier.
Some of the tasks are fairly straightforward (such as talking to someone) while others require more preparation. As such, it's good to take your time and not leave all the tasks until the last hour.
5 Get The Mood Right
One of the more demanding tasks that can be complicated for some players is to have a certain number of Sims feel a certain way at the same time, for example, playful or flirty. It's difficult to achieve a unified mood simply by talking to the Sims separately. However, there's a way how to move forward with this without the Sim talking to their guests at all!
It's necessary to have an object with the right emotional aura in the place where the event's happening. This object can be a painting, for example, or a rare rock, a painting, a decoration. Whatever it is, turning on its emotional aura, will affect the Sims on the lot and increase the chance of fulfilling the task and getting closer to the gold star.
4 Use The Right Lot Traits
Many players, especially those who are just starting with the game, underestimate the efficiency of lot traits. For the gold star social event, it helps to use the party place trait lot.
This will make it easier to achieve the highest tier and get the gold star. It will also make the guests feel better and more open to partying. This comes in handy for celebrating birthdays on a private lot, for example.
3 Get The Right Skills In Advance
Depending on what type of social event it is, the Sim organizing it might need certain skills in order to complete all the tasks and get the gold star. In order to achieve that, the Sim should work on their skills and get them to a high enough level before they throw the event in the first place.
The demands vary according to what type of social event it is, but some more typical skills that are useful to master include cooking, gourmet cooking, and mixology.
2 Have The Sim Feel Good
It might seem like a given but it's still easy to forget this. In order to get the gold star, the Sim throwing the event should not only feel happy or confident but should also have all their needs taken care of before the event starts.
If the Sim is feeling miserable, angry, they're hungry, or about to pass out from a lack of sleep, they won't be able to do all the required tasks. As a result, it will become impossible to get to the third tier and receive the gold star.
1 Use Cheats
Just like in all areas of The Sims 4, one of the easiest ways how to achieve something is to enable and use cheats. For some players, it will take away the enjoyment from the game but it's still an option nonetheless. By using cheats, the player can solve some of the problems that would otherwise prevent them from getting the gold star.
For example, they can use cheats to raise the cooking level to the required level or they can fulfill the Sim's needs so that they don't pass out from being too tired and can continue to focus on entertaining their guests.
