In The Sims 4, players can command their Sims to romance NPCs by interacting with them and choosing a conversation topic from the Romance category. Repeatedly selecting Romance options will increase the Romance meter, which will eventually allow players to select new and more romantic options.
Flirting with Sims is a pretty straightforward concept, but not all NPCs are as easy to romance as others. The Grim Reaper is arguably the most challenging Sim to romance in The Sims 4 due to how he only appears when a Sim dies. This, and the fact that the death of a Sim can put the player's Sim in a pretty nasty mood, also makes flirting with the Grim Reaper a pretty difficult task.
How To Summon The Grim Reaper In The Sims 4
To make the Grim Reaper appear, players will need to choose a Sim to sacrifice. There are countless ways to kill a Sim, but trapping one in a pool is oftentimes the fastest. To do this, the player must lure the Sim they plan to sacrifice to a pool; once they are swimming in the pool's water, a wall can be built around the pool's edge to ensure they can't leave.
After enough time passes, the trapped Sim will die, causing the Grim Reaper to appear. If players wish for this Sim to live, they can plead with the Grim Reaper before he takes them to the afterlife; otherwise, the player is free to wait until the Grim Reaper finishes his job. Once the Grim Reaper is done dealing with the Sim in the pool, he will remain on the player's lot for a short period before despawning, giving players a chance to befriend him and romance him.
How To Romance The Grim Reaper In The Sims 4
Like with any other Sim, the best way to approach a potential romance with the Grim Reaper is to first initiate a friendship. This can be done by selecting the Grim Reaper after he has dealt with the sacrificial Sim and choosing any of the conversation topics available in the Friendly category. After enough friendly chatter, players can freely flirt with the Grim Reaper to fill up the Romance meter.
The Grim Reaper will vanish shortly after he finishes reaping, so players will need to be quick if they hope to start a friendship with him.
Filling up the Romance meter for other NPCs eventually leads to a relationship or marriage, but this isn't the case with the Grim Reaper. Even with a full Romance meter, players won't be able to marry the Grim Reaper unless they are using cheats.
Players hoping to make the Grim Reaper a permanent resident in their home must first activate cheats by typing "testingcheats true" on the Cheat Console; shift-clicking the Grim Reaper will then give players the option to add him to their family. Players should then select the Grim Reaper icon in the bottom left corner of the screen and enter "traits.clear_traits" into the Cheat Console. Doing this will remove the Grim Reaper's restrictions, allowing players to interact with him more freely.
Once the Grim Reaper Sim's family, players are free to romance him as much as they like.
