As gamers play The Sims 4, they will be able to uncover a series of secrets as they progress through certain skills, careers, or aspirations. Players can visit secret alien planets by playing through the Scientist career or by building their own rocket ship with the Rocket Science skill. Although it might not sound as exciting, gamers can actually make a mysterious item if they invest in the knitting skill and aspiration.

This guide will teach players everything they need to know about the strange Forbbiden Sweater, an item exclusive to the Nifty Knitting Sims 4 stuff pack.

How to Unlock the Forbidden Sweater

As players progress through the Knitting skill in The Sims 4, they'll be able to knit a wider variety of clothing and furniture. However, no matter how much they progress through the Knitting skill, they won't be able to unlock the Forbidden Sweater, as there are a few extra steps.

To be able to knit the Forbidden Sweater, a Sim must first complete the Lady or Lord of the Knits aspiration. Doing this unlocks the Sacred Knitting Knowledge trait, which allows players to knit the Forbidden Sweater and a toy based on Yarny from Unravel. Here are all the milestones that the Sim will have to overcome in order to complete the knitting aspiration:

Thread Setter

  • Achieve Level 4 of the Knitting skill
  • Knit while listening to music
  • Sell a knitted object on Plopsy

  • Achieve Level 6 of the Knitting skill
  • Complete ten Excellent quality knittables
  • Succesfully gift three knittables
  • Successfully show off a knitted sweater to another Sim

Lady or Lord of the Knits

  • Achieve Level 10 of the Knitting skill
  • Donate five knitted items to charity
  • Complete five Legendary quality knittables
  • Teach another Sim to knit

How to Get the Forbidden Sweater

Once the Sim has completed the knitting aspiration and acquired the Sacred Knitting Knowledge trait, they'll be able to knit the Forbidden Sweater by interacting with the yarn basket in the Sim's inventory. The player has to select the "Knit Clothing" option and then choose the Forbidden Sweater. There is only one version of the Forbidden Sweater; it has no color variants.

Once it's completed, Sims can wear the Forbidden Sweater by selecting it in their inventory and choosing the "Add to Warbrode" option. Players can then find it under the Sweaters tab of the Create-a-Sim menu.

Sims can gift the Forbidden Sweater to other Sims, but if they're in a relationship it has the chance of giving them the Sweater Curse . Thankfully, Sims with level 10 Knitting skill can absolve other Sims of the Sweater Curse if they wish to do so.
